I am linking to an extensive article on Celtics Blog regarding the salary cap. It is geared toward the Celtics, but completely breaks down all of the nuances of the salary cap, different types of contracts, trade kickers, Bird rights, qualifying offers, etc. It is put together in an easy to read & understand format, and I learned a ton from it. I consider it a must-read for all, weather or not you care about the Celtics really doesn't matter. I know College Wolf wrote a very nice article similar to this awhile back. This is similar to that, but is a good refresher for those who did read CW's article, or a great way to learn about all of this stuff if you missed CW's previous article.

Great read. Yeah, even if you don't like the Celtics, it's definitely worth checking out. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to the CBA, but there are somethings like BYC and capholds that can be confusing. This laid them out very simply.

BYC's in the Trade Machine used to drive me nuts! Now I know why.
