Of course that's purely from a basektball standpoint. The chemistry/karma issue is definitely in favor of going with Paul and Ray.
However, I don't get why the Lakers would do that trade. The people at CelticsBlog are nuts. Pierce is a very good player. Kobe is a \"once every two decades\" player, even though he's a jerk. Kobe is at least twice as good as Pierce. Doing a straight-up deal like that would do nothing to improve their team. The Celtics have no young players, no picks, and no expiring contracts. So how does this help them?
Honestly, if the Lakers were looking to get the most out of a deal, we're probably the #1 trading partners going. Kobe would probably pitch a huge fit, so it would never happen. But basically, if you just hang onto Jefferson, we'd come out ahead in the deal. Kobe and Jefferson is better than Garnett, at least basketball wise. As far as the intangibles go, I think we all know KG is invaluable.
Theo, Foye, Green, Boston's pick, a future pick from us, whatever else it takes. Kobe and Jefferson would be a force to be reckoned with for sure. But like I said, Kobe in Minnesota will never happen. And actually, that's probably a good thing.
I probably forgot to say it, but yeah, there's no way LAL would even do Kobe for PP straight up (or any other combo with PP.) These Celtics-Kobe trades make NO sense for LA. There's nothing they can get. What a stupid original article that was by the guy from SI.com. Wow.
I wouldn't want Kobe on the Wolves. With that said, he'd veto the trade anyways. Thank god he's got that No Trade Clause.
Lastly, I think Chicago is the #1 trading partner for Kobe. They have almost as many assets and more proven players to trade. Plus, Kobe would love to play in Chicago. I'd say we are maybe the third or so best (hypothetical) trade partner.
