This week's edition is being hosted
Queen City Hoops. As usual, I will post a link when he updates the rankings.
For now, here are my comments and votes for this week:
MVP (1st = 10, 2nd = 9... and so on.)
10 – Chris Paul: So apparently KG can’t win the award because he’s in the East and his team is too good. Lebron apparently can’t win it because he’s in the East and his team isn’t good enough. That leaves the award to someone on the team that wins the Western Conference. My money is on the Hornets and Chris Paul. By the way, he’s having one of the best seasons in the history of Point Guard play.
9 – Kobe Bryant: I’m afraid the media will gift wrap the award to Kobe since he’s “never won it.” Hogwash.
8 – Kevin Garnett: The Celtics set the record for the greatest improvement in total wins this season, with 36 win improvement (and counting.) You are kidding yourself if you don’t think KG is the driving force behind the Celtics resurgence this year.
7 – Lebron: The only way he was going to win it this season was if he went “Oscar Robinson” on homies and averaged a triple-double… for the entire season. The scary thing is that he was damn close.
6 – Dwight Howard: Leads the league in rebounding and double-doubles. Looks like Orlando will land a top 4 playoff seed as well. What else could you ask for from a 22 year old?
5 – Baron Davis: Everyone that doesn’t vote for him is straight hating.
4 – Tim Duncan: The most consistent player on the most consistently good team for the past 10 seasons. He may be boring, but amazingly effective as well.
3 – Amare Stoudamire: Is it possible that he is more important to the success of the Suns than Nash? He’s been averaging 30 points and 10 boards over the past ten games. Amare: 1, Microfracture Surgery: 0.
2 –Deron Williams: People forget how awesome he is because he’s playing in the mountains of Mormanland and isn’t as flashy as Baron Davis, AI, or Chris Paul. It’s too bad because he’s leading his team to another division title and having a superb season.
1 – Chris “Caveman” Kaman: 12th in the league in double-doubles. He’s also averaging almost 13 boards per game. Did anyone see this coming after what he did (or should I say, didn’t do) last season? The man is a monster! Rrrrrraaaaarrrrr!
ROY (1st = 5, 2nd = 4... and so on)
5 - Al Horford: Making the playoffs (even if it is the East) is worth something right? He’s also averaging almost a double-double while shooting better than 40%.
4 – Kevin Durant: Granted, he doesn’t have much help, but he sure can put points on the board. His shooting will improve.
3 – Al Thorton: He’d look pretty good on the Wolves right about now. Sigh.
2 – Luis Scola: An integral part of Houston’s big man rotation with YAO out to injury. He’s played admirably all season long… even if he is a 27 year old “rookie.” How could the Spurs have not fit him into their rotation somehow?
1 – Aaron “Freight Train” Gray: The man is huge. That’s worth a mention.
