The New Jersey Nets will trade Yi Jianlian and $3 million to the Washington Wizards for Quinton Ross and the Wizards' trade exception, a league source said.

The deal will be completed on Tuesday, the source said.

The move will allow the Nets to clear another $3 million in cap space to spend on free agency this summer.

Yi is scheduled to make $4 million next season. Ross is set to make $1.1 million. The Nets should now have roughly $30 million in cap space to spend after the move, according to the source.

The trade is the latest in a series of moves in which the Wizards are using potential salary cap space to acquire assets instead of free agents. Last week, the Wizards agreed to acquire Kirk Hinrich from the Bulls for the draft rights to Kevin Seraphin.

What are the Nyets going to do when they can't sign any star free agents? I hope they trade us Favors for Jefferson.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

The more I hear about Favors, the most "bust" potential I see. He could be amazing. He could be Kwame Brown...

I am very surprised that Porhoadfadfdfokov parted with their Chinese star as he's trying to build a "global" team. But I guess LeBron = more global publicity than Yi.

Maybe he doesn't like that part of the globe.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I wouldn't be shocked if they are a team that gets screwed the worst in free agency, amongst the 6 teams that have tons of cap space.

I did hear there are 150 free agents available so my guess there's plenty of players for everyone. Not every team can sign Lebron but plenty of other guys to look at to fill there team. Letting Yi makes sense for clearing cap(3 to 4 million) but CDR???? I have no answers to that move!

Have you checked out any of the FA rankings? Brendan Haywood is usually in the top 15.
