or how I learned to shut up and listen to LeBron James.

LeBron is taking plenty of flack for the hour long announcement special. Not one to shy away from running his mouth Stan Van Gundy had this to say:

"It takes 15 seconds to say, 'I've decided to stay in Cleveland,' but we've got another 59 minutes and 45 seconds to, what? Promote LeBron James? As if we don't do that enough,"

The media wrote LeBron, Wade and crew a blank check to turn this thing into a farce and not shockingly they cashed it. ESPN large tracks of their site and hours upon hour of tv time devoted to this and they are far from alone. Basically everyone LeBron has come in contact with has spent the last 2 years telling him that the decision he is going to make tomorrow is a huge F#$%ing deal.

After all that, an hour long show that is likely a highlight/tribute to the first half of his career seems like the right way to top this bizarre team building exercise we've been watching.

I think it's ridiculous to say the least.

However, I think I'd rather see this whole saga wrapped up neatly like this vs. just randomly finding the link on ESPN.com one afternoon. Plus, this way we hear it straight from him and not some reporter who may or may not be going on good information.

I also think its completely absurd, but great points DeROK and Pants. I can't disagree with either of you.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

To be more concise I could have said... Given the absurdity of the NBA's free season saga this hour long grand finale seems appropriate.

The media and the league has definitely brought this upon themselves, no doubt about that.

That's why I love someone like Kevin Durant, who just signed his extension with no fanfare whatsoever. He was at the draft supporting his team, and he's been at Summer League watching all their games.

Good for him.

KD is the greatest. Him hanging out at the draft confirmed everything I thought I knew. He doesn't have the lap dogs that LeBron does. It also can't hurt not being called The King since you were 17.

Yes, KD is a total stud. And I'm glad I have him on my Western Conference Only Auction Keeper Dynasty team for a super low price, since everyone else in the league gave up on him after his rookie season. I'll be able to keep him for the next ten years or so bwahahahahahahaha!

I'll be running my NFL FF roster by you before I pick the keepers.

You are going to need to consult with Truehoop and Canis on KD. You might not know this but he makes his team worse.

Send it over!

And yes, the Thunder won 27 more games last year than the previous season... all in spite of KD. Damn him scoring 30 ppg as the youngest league scoring leader ever. I will take KD on my team no matter what any statistics say.
