HO-LY-CRAP. That is one horrible trade. It is interesting to think of from an opportunity cost perspective.

You can sprinkle a little Odom throughout that but the above guys are who really got minutes Caron would have had. Butler was also very good in the playoffs with Washington.

Maybe he would have had to leave for Memphis in the Gasol deal but damn if he was there from just 05-08 that is a MAJOR upgrade.

Oh yeah, totally. The Lakers got soooooooooooooo lucky they ended up with Pau. If they wouldn't have gotten Pau out of that mess of a trade, there's no way they would have won the past two titles. On the flip side, who knows how good they would have been with Butler? Probably not as good as with Pau, but not much worse I don't think?
