Anyhow, here are my votes and comments this time around:
MVP: (10th place = 10 points, 9th place = 9 points, and so on)
10 – Kevin Garnett: Amongst the elite of the league, slight differences in individual statistics should not carry as much weight when trying to determine something such as MVP rankings. When it comes down to it, KG is the emotional leader and the best defender on the team that happens to have the best record in the league. It’s not like averaging 19 and 11 is too shabby either.
9 – Lebron: Doing everything in his power to prevent his career paralleling KG’s (pre-trade to Boston.)
8 – Dwight Howard: Despite a recent swoon, his team still has the third best record in the East. His supporting cast is playing well, but most of the Magic’s resurgence should be credited to Howard’s godlike 23 points and 15 rebounds per game. Don’t forget he’s easily leading the league in double-doubles with 27.
7 – Kobe Bryant: He’s making magic down there La La Land. Who would have guessed the Lakeshow would have been tied for the fifth best record in the entire league? It helps when Kobe is dropping 27 points, 6 boards, and 5 assists per game.
6 – Carlos Boozer: He’s a beast, but the fact that the Utah Jazz are currently not in the playoff picture hurts his chances at the MVP.
5 – Chris Kaman: The player most affected by the poor record of his team. I’d love to rank him higher, but just cannot justify it when the Clippers are 9-19. Still, his 18 points and 14 boards per game definitely deserve consideration. Do people realize he’s only 25 years old and could actually get better? I wish he wouldn’t have cut his hair; it made him look much more menacing.
4 – Chris Paul: How does one decide amongst players such as CP3, Nash, Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Deron Williams, and AI… they are all equally deserving and all playing on successful teams. It’s like trying to decide which kind of cognac one likes best. To me, they’re all good.
3 – Steve Nash: Gets the nod thanks to his team’s record.
2 – Baron Davis: Not far behind Paul and Nash. On a side note, what amazing point guards in the Western Conference. You could make an all-star team solely out of point guards.
1 – Al Jefferson: C’mon, why not?

5 – Kevin Durant: Can’t we just glue his name to this position on the leaderboard?
4 – Yi Jianlian: Vaults up to second place because he’s playing like he belongs in the L. The last two weeks saw him drop a career high in points (29) and two double-digit rebounding games. Unfortunately, he still needs to work on his consistency night in and night out, as he had two games with only 8 points.
3 – Al Horford: Too bad he can’t play point guard for the Hawks too.
2 – Juan Carlos Navarro: Amongst rookies JCN is: 3rd in points per game, 1st in 3PT%, 1st in three pointers made, 5th in assists, 6th in steals, and 2nd in FT%.
1 – Al Thornton: After a largely uninspiring season, he’s come on strong the past two weeks when given a significant amount of playing time. He’s averaging nearly 13 points per game over his last four games.
