The league announced the suspension Thursday for Mayo's positive test for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Mayo's suspension will start Friday night when the Grizzlies visit Philadelphia, and he will be able to return Feb. 15, also against the 76ers, in Memphis. He will forfeit $405,109 of his salary.


Whew the hits keep coming for OJ. It is an over the counter suppliment so it is far from a major competitive advantage for him. I'd be very pissed if I was a Memphis fan.

I'd never played with Thabeet before and wanted to test him out. He's turrrible. I traded him to Detroit after a grand total of 1 game played for the wolves.

I would definitely still take Mayo for filler pieces, especially if we didn't trade them Pekovic!

Bassy and Ellington for Mayo works. They could use a backup point guard--Conley is playing a lot of minutes and the only other PG they have is a rookie, Vasquez.

Also if people are wondering why he is struggling so mightily since his rookie season its called "Scouting Reports"! If you all paid attention he struggled mightily after all star break his rookie season. Teams saw that if u harass him and put a longer defender on him u can make him ineffective.

I'd still trade for him to play PG because the team has the glut at SF and is almost certainly going to add to it next year in the draft.

I don't think Memphis will move him for nothing. Which is what I consider a package involving Flynn/Ellington/Telfair. Given that they already have a defensive stopping SG in their rotation (Allen) I don't see them wanting Brewer.

Flynn plus Ellington for Mayo? Plus side, we lose Flynn, and Mayo has a lot of upside. Down side, I kinda like Ellington, and Mayo has baggage.

Flynn and Ellington for Mayo is a no brainer move. Flynn is awful and his upside is that of a decent backup PG at best and Ellington is too limited and will never be more than a fringe rotation player.

Mayo would actually be pretty ideal as a PG in the triangle. Not to mention he can't be any worse than the shooting guards we have now. Also with Ridnour and Mayo holding down the fort at PG that would allow us to (finally) trade Bassy to the Knicks or whatever.
