Those Nash squads were deep, all those guys were legit players -compare them to Stockton's Jazz teams or KG's Wolves teams etc etc etc. I mean that's 2 20$ million a year guys next to him, and as I said above Marion has tons of game, and was in his prime then, and Diaw was good before he got fat & lazy, and Bell is/was a decent role player at worst, Barbosa etc. Come On that's a great team, not a horrible supporting cast!

At least no one is disputing Magic at number one.

Payton was great and extremely solid all around, but i feel like at his best Nash was more impactful than Payton at his best. And Nasty has best of the breed shooting stats all around. And he was MVP twice. Was Payton ever higher than maybe #5 in the rankings? The counter would be Payton made it to the finals with 3 different teams, but in the case of 2 of them he was their 4th best player at best.

I love the idea of LeRobin playing point. He shut down D Rose on D, and could seemingly do so to any point guard. Confidence is key though. Ahhh he's a bitch. Power forward could probably work too?! He might get bodied up down low though, not owned, but banged up a ton. I don't see the 4 spot as much as the 1 spot.

I'd been boozin, so I think this all makes sense but I'm not sure if it's on point or not.....

But I am sure about the Phoenix thing!

Ya'll are spitting knowledge, again. Reading this thread has made my evening. Lots of eye opening opinions.

I have a better appreciation for Nash and Stockton after reading this.

Check me out for a minute...Imagine part of the reason why Magic was so good. He was huge. What if Lebron decides to switch to the point this offseason? it would fit his pass first mentality. He'd have to change his game, but it would work...I think he should switch to PF and they should trade Bosh, but that's for another day.

GP is underrated by everyone except CW. Kidd is better than Stockton, mainly because he didn't wear short-shorts.
The Daddy knows whattsup. As usual.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

What I mean by underwhelming here is that it now looks like Joe Johnson, Amare, Nash, and a bunch of middling/washed up role players. In 2006, they were formidable.

That's an insult to Shawn Marion. He is legit, and was even more legit back then.
Concur. Marion was one of the top 15 players in the NBA back then. If not top 10. He was so versatile and awesome. And he played by far the best defense of anyone on the Suns. He was a HUGE part of all the success they had.

No way. Payton made (and won) more Finals than Nash (ZERO), with much lesser teams. I think people are just forgetting since Payton's prime was like 15+ years ago. He was a baller. Nash shouldn't have won 2 MVPs, but that's another story for another day. And GP was one of the best defensive players EVER, whereas Nash is below average. Defense matters.
