WTF Cleveland? They exchanged JJ Hickson + the #4 overall pick for Omri Casspi and Tristian Thompson. That is such epic fail.

Kings trade Casspi to Cavaliers
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

What do you mean? The deal is Casspi + Future SacTo pick for JJ Hickson.

Excellent deal for Cleveland. Hickson was on the outs as soon as Tristan was picked. Anytime you can get picks from bad teams it is a solid move even if you have to wait for it.

I think he is also throwing in the fact that Cleveland used pick 4 on Thompson :) to compound their fail. Took me about 5 minutes to figure out too.

I like it. Hickson's numbers are inflated from playing on a bad team and Casspi fits a position of need. Casspi will start because they have no one else.

SF: Casspi
PF: Jamison, Thompson, Samuels

makes a lot more sense than

SF: *crickets chirping*
PF: Hickson, Jamison, Thompson, Samuels

I agree. Look at the Clips next year. They will get a top pick anywhere from best case number 1 to worst case can't see them getting less than the 6 pick from the wufs. What did we get? Marco Yaric blech...

And Yaric got a super model out of the deal. Who got screwed here? the WUFS, well and Marco literally.

Yeah, I'm saying they should have never taken Thompson, and then (basically) been forced to trade Hickson.

Such failure all around.

Yeah, big time. No way Cleveland gets that pick anytime soon.

I fail to see how this is a good deal for them. Casspi is ok, but he's just a league average player, more or less.

Hickson has potential to be a very good player. At least, he's certainly much better than Casspi, who is just a random SF. Just because Cleveland needs a SF, that doesn't make Casspi good.

Plus the pick is bad, it's super protected.

The pick is protected, but there is still a good chance they'll get it.
The draft pick is lottery-protected next year, top-13 protected in 2013, top-12 protected in 2014 and top-10 protected from 2015-17. If the Cavs don't receive the pick by 2017, they will receive a second-round pick.

The Kings will have to be really bad for the next 6 years for them not to get the pick.

And Hickson is not that good. He's a me-first player and has low basketball IQ. His numbers are super inflated because Mo Williams, Jamison, and Varejao were all injured on a team that lost 26 straight games. Besides Sessions, everyone else on that team is a complete d-league scrub.

It's a solid trade for the Cavs.

Word on the grapevine is that Tristan schooled Derrick Williams in one on one workouts that's why the Cavs took him "too" early.

Caspi Basketball IQ > Hickson basketball IQ

If the Cavs move the ball like they should, Caspi should have a better "year" ( if there is one ) then his first two. Plus the Cavs need a shooter.

I think the Cavs did good assuming the rumors around Tristan are true.

I don't care how "inflated" Hickson's stats may or may not be. He's still way better than Casspi. Check out Hickson's game logs from January through the rest of the season, when he was finally getting some consistent minutes. He can be a beast.

And the Cavs might get like the #15 pick in 2014 or 2015? Doesn't seem that good to me. :S

Wow he put up 14 & 8 playing with all star teammates such as Alonzo Gee, Christian Eyenga, Manny Harris, Samardo Samuels, Ryan Hollins, Ramon Sessions, and Daniel Gibson. Color me not impressed. And yea they have to wait awhile to get that pick, but at the end of the day it's a still a mid 1st round pick. I'd take it.

I said check since January when he was actually getting consistent minutes. He was a beast. And he had 28 double-doubles from that time on.

Obviously K-Love is better, but the situation isn't much different. He's a player on a bad team putting up a bunch of stats. And I doubt you'd trade K-Love for Casspi or (maybe someone a bit better, or whatever) + a heavily protected pick. The Cavs needed a SF, and we need a SG. So should we trade Love for Richard Hamilton + a draft pick? I'm just making stuff up here, but you get the point.
