Bonk and I both partook in the Top 10 SG's. Check out the results and everyone's comments and whatnot. It turned out really well!

Ehh. I'm such a terrible basketball mind. I wasn't even close to that PG list. SG, I agreed with (hard to judge players you never watched).

Definitely agree with ya there. It does make it a bit difficult to do All-Time lists (for any sport.) So a lot of the voting has to be based upon the career stats and accomplishments at their face value.

And here's the Top 10 SF's:

Top 10 NBA Small Forwards of All-Time

If you read the Top 10 SG comments, and now these comments, you'll see there is a tad bit of drama regarding how the results turned out. Don and Jeff most definitely don't agree with each other, lol. So in the interest of making myself look awesome full disclosure, here is how I voted:
1) Larry Bird: Kinda crazy to think he only played in 897 regular season games. What might have been if he had managed to stay healthy longer, and/or if Lenny Bias stayed off the crack pipe.

2) Dr. J: Over 30,000 career points. 3 time Champion, 4 time MVP, 16 time All-Star. Yeah, he was good.

3) John Havlicek: 8 time Champion and 13 time All-Star. Not many players are more decorated than that.

4) Elgin Baylor: Why is he not in more "best of all-time" discussions? Is it because he only played 846 career games and never won a title? Not his fault.

5) Scottie Pippen: Anyone that argues his placement on this list has clearly never seen him play, or looked at his career stats. On top of that, he was an amazing defender and won as many titles as Michael Jordan.

6) Dominique Wilkins: Do people forget how truly great he was since there were so many other amazing players in the NBA at that time? I think so. He played during the "Golden Age", and unfortunately for 'Nique, he was never able to get over the hump. A little more assistance on his teams would have helped his cause.

7) Rick Barry: 12 All-Star games, a championship, and over 25,000 career points. Gets docked a little bit for being a Grade-A asshat.

8) LeBron: Could very well be at the top of this list when all is said and done. It all depends on how many titles he wins, because there is no doubting he'll have the best career statistics of any SF ever (barring injury.)

9) James Worthy: Vastly overrated due to playing on absolutely loaded Championship teams. Still, he was pretty good in his own right.

10) Paul Arizin: He only played in 713 career games, and it was an entirely different era (retired in 1962.) Regardless, he won a Championship, was a 10 time All-Star, and one of the most dominant players of his time.

Like the SG results, there is a heated convo in the comments for this one, lol. Good stuff.

Here were my votes:

1) Tim Duncan - I *guess* he's considered a PF. Those four championships really help his cause here.

2) Karl Malone - Had he won even one title, I'd probably then have him listed at #1 overall.

3) KG - He clearly deserves to be ranked at #1 overall, but I don't want to get destroyed by all the angry mob commentors.

4) Charles Barkley - MVP, All-NBA, All-Star... the accolades go on and on. Could have been even higher by winning a title, but that's not a knock on him.

5) Dirk - Winning the title last year was just icing on the cake.

6) Kevin McHale - Career was tragically cut short, otherwise he could have been much higher on this list.

7) Bob Pettit - Has all the accolades and even won a championship, but he gets (unfairly?) penalized for playing in an entirely different era. He was good, and it's not his fault when he was born, but let's be realistic here.

8) Dolph Schayes - See: Bob Pettit

9) Elvin Hayes - Holy crap 27,000+ points and 16,000+ rebounds. And he's ranked ninth. Good lord.

10) Bob McAdoo - Lucky winner that got his name drawn out of a hat for the #10 spot.

Here was mine:

1. Duncan
2. Malone
3. KG: If KG grabs one more title being the team’s top 3 player I put him above Mailman. P.S. – STUD. My favorite athlete of all-time. Ever. I could gush for pages & pages, but I’ll contain myself.
4. Bob Petit : Stats-wise, he is up there with anyone. He is from such an early era but one of the very best from that era.
5. Charles Barkley
6. Dirk: I say Dirk is in the top 6, right now. He could go much higher still.
7. Kevin McHale: My favorite player in my early childhood. Love the way he played, the way he yakked, and how he reps Minnesnowta.
8. Elvin Hayes
9. C–Webb: Best smile in NBA history.
10. Dolph Schayes

Bullsh*t

I like how we all try to pretend like we can assess some of these old a$$ players that retired before most of us were even born. Fyck em, I won't even bother with those players. Here's a ranking of PF's that existed when the opposition was also over 6'5 and 200 lbs...

1) KG
2) Duncan
3) Barkley
4) Malone
5) McHale
6) Dirk
7) Rodman
8) Webber
9) TOM CHAMBERS! - When I was a teen someone gave my dad the entire 89 season of Tom Chambers' games. I watched a game every day after school on the ol' VHS. That boy put in work!
10) Shawn Kemp

PF's that go hard in the paint: Anthony Mason and Larry Johnson. I loved these dudes' games.

Here are the Top 10 All-time Centers, and my votes below:

Top 10 NBA Centers of All-Time
1) Bill Russell - The ultimate winner. Has more Championship rings than fingers. Need I go on?

2) Kareem - All-time NBA leading scorer. 6 Championships. 6 MVP's. 19(!) All-star games. I don't think anyone in the history of the NBA can match his combination of durability, skills, and overall greatness.

3) Shaq - An MVP, 3 Finals MVPs, 4 Championships, 15 All-star games, and was probably the most imposing big man to ever play the game. His combination of size, skill, agility, and dexterity was unmatched, and probably always will be.

4) Wilt - He certainly had the flashy stats and averages, but he only won 2 titles. Could easily have been the best center in the history of the game, but he just didn't have the DNA that Russell and Kareem had. If this list was based solely on statistics, then Wilt would certainly be #1... but it's not.

5) Hakeem - An MVP, 2 Championships, and the All-time leader in blocked shots. He was an amazing offensive player, and also one of the best defenders of his time. Not only that, he scored over 26,000 career points and had over 13,000 career rebounds, made 12 All-star games, and is the only player in NBA history to win the NBA's MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP awards all in the same season (1993-94.)

6) Moses Malone - Scored more points and had more rebounds than Hakeem (although he played slightly more career games). But Moses also did nab three MVP awards to go with Championship, which was one of the greatest teams in NBA history (the 1982-83 Sixers.) Not too shabby. Gets bonus points for being the last preps-to-pros player until KG came along.

7) David Robinson - Yeah, his two Championships were helped by the fact that Duncan came along, but The Admiral was still really damn good.

8) George Mikan - His career stats are underwhelming to look at now, but at the time when he was the first great big man, he had no equal. Also won five Championships in seven years.

9) Bill Walton - Like Kevin McHale for the PF rankings, he could have been much higher if he was able to stay healthy. His career was tragically shortened by injuries, yet he still won an MVP and two Championships. He's also one of the best passing big men of all-time.

10) Darko Mili... I mean, Patrick Ewing - Never won the elusive Championship, but he was an 11 time All-star who played against some of the best Centers in the history of the NBA. He also tallied almost 25,000 career points and 12,000 career rebounds.
