PGs are so hot right now that the Lakers just went back to back with possibly the worst starting PG in the entire league and the Mavs just won with 38 year old Jason Kidd :silly:

Touche...I just mean they are deep. Unlike off guards and centers.

Yeah, but both Kidd and Barea killed it in the playoffs.

The Clippers gave up alot but they sold appropriately, like Kahn needs to do. Only skimmed your guy's thoughts but I'm gathering some Clip-hate going on for making this trade. I strongly disagree. They acquired the best PG in basketball to work with the most promising big in basketball. It is a win for LA, who are an instant playoff team, and a short term loss for the Hornets, who are lottery bound. You can only let players simmer for so long before realizing there are players around who can bring a greater impact. Clips have some work to do, but they are set for a really good year.

And I disagree with Stern being 'a bad GM.' Huh? The man refused to deal and ended up getting a 2nd very valuable asset as the Hornets rebuilt. Christ, maybe Stern should teach Kahn the value of assets sometime. Hornets fans should be thrilled they got this package in the end.

I'm appalled. Appalled and offended. I didn't bash the Clips. Don't lump with these haters like Roundhouse!

I'm incredulous that you guys think CP3 is better than Rose. Please stop calling him the best PG because he clearly is not.

In CP3's introductory press conference he said he was excited to play for the Clippers because they are an unbelievable franchise and have so much history.   I'm surprised he didn't call Donald Sterling a great humanitarian and philanthropist. I hope they did a drug screening before they signed off on the trade...

Well, their history DOES go back to the 70's as the Buffalo Braves so...I guess that's "so much history."

I always figured CP3 to be a smart man. Perhaps not.

Anyway, Roundhouse, I'm incredulous that you used incredulous. How can one go wrong when comparing two astoundingly awesome point gods. Have you ever watched him in the playoffs? CP3, when it counts, as top flight.

I have no doubt that Derrick Rose is going to surpass Williams and CP3, probably this year. He's younger and more gifted than both. If I had one game to win tomorrow, I'd probably still pick Chris Paul to run my team (assuming I have a team of scorers and such). I'm not alone in this argument. It's been raging across blogs over the summer with a very split opinion over Rose/CP3/Williams (the argument is that we just don't watch him enough. Whatever, he's only 3rd best).

As of today, I go like this:

1. CP3
2. Ricky-Jota-Jota-Barea-Rubio
3. Rose
4. Williams
5. Rondo
6. Nash
7. Russell "Don't call me the 2nd fiddle" Westbrook
8. Wall
9. Parker
10. Kidd / Curry

Kind of discussing in two threads, sorry.

Whether Paul is the 1st or 2nd best PG in the league is subjective. Rose is probably better, true. Regardless the Clippers have a contending core, and the Hornets will NOT have a contending core unless they pluck a miracle out of the draft or do other major work to overhaul the roster. It will take them 2 or 3 seasons, and the Clippers will still be right in the mix at that point, too, if Sterling doesnt fuck it up (which, he probably will). They won the trade huge even if they gave up a little much; they had no choice.

Whether the Clips have a real SG can come with time. They need a stopper/role player there. Not every winning team has to be loaded at every position. Look at the championship contending Wolves for example.

PS - nice ranks DFS. love it when you bust out the random rankings. Agree mostly but I think Nash is a little high these days (probably in more ways than one).

You guys really think that Paul is better then D-Will? Williams is a better scorer and can shoot better.

1. Rose
2. Williams
3. Paul

And then noone really close to them...

Nothing to add. I feel it. Falls apart if CP3's knee blows up, Gordon is a superstar in the making, and the pick ends up being the next Kevin Garnett.

Daddy you must be thinking of CP3 about 3 years ago. He's been on a steady decline since then.

Also I think that Rondo's lack of shooting and horrible FT% hurt the Celtics offense more than people realize. Luckily they have Ray, Pierce, and KG who combined are good enough to mask it.

1. Rose
2. D-Will
3. CP3
4. Nash
5. Rondo
6. Westbrook
7. Wall
8. Parker
9. Kidd
10. Curry

I'd put Westbrook ahead of Rondo if he hadn't been such a ballhoggin bitch in the playoffs last year.

By this time next year Wall will be 3rd or 4th on this list.

If you read that Wages of Wins article (among others), CP3 has basically been carrying a bad Hornets team the last few years. That's the reason for his "decline."

If you need to win 1 game or 1 playoff series (or something like that), then I take CP3 all the way. In a short-team vacuum like that, he's the best PG in the NBA. If you pick a PG for the rest of his career, then you take Deron Williams or Derrick Rose. Personally, I'd go with Rose.

So my rankings would look like this:

TIE: CP3/Rose
3. Deron Williams
4. Rondo
5. Westbrook
6. Parker
7. Wall
8. Nash (too old, zero defense, injuries.)
9. Brandon Knight
10. Luke Ridnour
11. JJB
12. Rod Strickland
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
432. Brandon Roy
433. Randy Foye
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
8,831. Jonny Flynn
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

If it was as simple as he's just carrying a bad team his assists would drop and his scoring would go up yet. Especially on the Hornets where they don't have anyone who can score besides David West. Yet his stats have taken a nosedive across the board.
