Dwight Howard's \"Superman\" dunk was a steaming pile of hot garbage. For one thing it wasn't even a dunk, he threw the ball in from a couple of feet away. There was nothing special about it at all, I'd give it a 7, but instead it got like all 10's

Howard easily deserved to win, especially with GG repeating his dunk. But where's the love for the Birthday Cake dunk? The judges were piss poor inconsistent this year.

Yeah the judging was pure BS as usual. There's no way Green beat Gay by only a point in the first round. The right man won as Dwight's 1st and 3rd dunks were incredible, but it should've been much closer.

I don't know what Green was thinking with the last one. He might've been able to pull the upset if he did something a little more special. Although you know Dwight Howard is a lock to win the fan vote no matter what.

When he took off his shoes, I honestly thought he was going to try and take off from the free throw line or something....I didn't think he would try the same dunk again. He should've had a back-up dunk-idea coming into the contest....HE SHOULD'VE SAVED THAT CUPCAKE ONE FOR THE END!!

Having seen only what ESPN.com offers me (unwilling to install yet another mediaplayer to look on NBA.com), I have to admit that only by the superman-stuff, I can't understand why Howard won. BOOOOOOORING. Besides, I prefer when players around 6'6 to 6'8 max participate...I know, Howard isn't allowed to raise the rim, but this would also just let him benefit from his height...whatever.

If you say all in all, he right one won, it's more than o.k. with me.

Liked the off-the-glass by Sean Williams in the Rookie-Soph game, though. Thing was wild...

...knowing that he had red flags all over with character issues preventing other teams to take the risk on him, but so far the guy looks like a steal for the Nets.

Overall I think DHo deserved to win.

Gerald definitely should have saved his birthday cake dunk for the finals. Not sure why he didn't. He could have made it to the finals with his other dunks. And yeah, he definitely blew it by doing the same dunk twice in a row at the end... that was his downfall.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

I don't know if this is true. This was the first dunk contest in years where everyone had a solid showing. I think that Moon could possibly have been ahead of Green. I actually think all 4 guys had a dunk that could have won the competition in past years.

Another reason to do the big dunk first is momentum with the judging. You could tell after the first dunk they were voting Howard through regardless.

I was just glad that because of the \"sticker\" controversy of last year the judges waited to see the replay on the cake dunk. It all happened too fast to really appreciate in real time.

Howard did 4 completely original dunks. I'd rate them as follows

1. Head behind the back board
2. using to hands flipping off the glass
3. Superman - I loved it but I just hope this isn't a new crutch. Everyone pulling off their shirts for an outfit.
4. Nerf thing that coulda been better but was still good.

Once you see the rest of the dunks you'll know why Howard won. He is the first 7 footer to ever fly like that.

Thx very much for the update...

...I understand that the Superman-Stuff was a matter of taste and I highly disliked it, but if the other ones were both original as well as spectacular even measured by this height advantage..and everybody seems to be of that opinion, I am the last to say I begrudge him for winning only because he's taller than 6'6 :) !

That is how I would rate them too. It seems like everyone is talking about the Superman dunk, but the 2 that I thought were really mind-blowing and awesome were the head behind the backboard & the flipping the ball off the glass dunks. Those 2 were amazing, innovative, damn near impossible, and stuff I had never seen or even thought of before.

Gerald could've won it in many recent years with the dunks he performed, he was very very good, but Dwight Howard was just too good this year.

Rudy Gay's dunk coming from the side where the ball was thrown off the support was an amazing dunk that unfortunately got lost in the shuffle.

After rewatching the dunk contest while eating lunch I'm that much more impressed with the field as a whole. Every single dunk was good. Even the Rudy Gay dunk that got a 37 was a cool dunk.

Another reason to love what Dwight Howard brought to this competition is the pregame videos he did. Everyone realized he was going to be great and they prepared accordingly. They all showed up with multiple good dunks that they could perform within two tries.

For all the stupid opinions Skip Bayless comes up with most of the time, you gotta give him some props for always sticking by his opinion. Most all the other ESPN talking heads change their viewpoint to what the other guys think.

They were talking about the dunk contest and Skip rightfully pointed out how overblown this whole thing is with the superman dunk. He said it was only the 4th best dunk of the night, which is was (if even that). Jay Crawford said that he honestly believes the Superman dunk is the best dunk of alltime. Wow. Besides the 2 Live Stus said GG's birthday cake was the best dunk and way underrated. I totally agree.

Upon even further review, I think the dunk where he tapped it to himself off the backboard was probably one of the coolest dunks I've ever seen.

You have to admit he did an amazing leap on his \"Superman\" dunk. It's still pretty impressive to me.
