Good point that KG4LVP there has.
First of all, I highly doubt that Wally will win any championship with any one. Because one might think, ans I won't oppose, that the Cavs are now at least slightly improved compared to their roster before the trade. Of coursse there remain some questions, like
- How much does Big Ben really has left in the tank ? (man, If I got a dollar every time someone said ore wrote \"left in the tank\" over the last weeks, with all those geezers getting dealt throughout the NBA, I would buy the Grizz tomorrow and would take'em back to Vancouver).
- Will they miss Larrx Hughes' perimeter defence?
and so on.
But no matter how much better they are now, I still doubt they couls beat out the Pistons or Celtics (if healthy) in a best-of-seven series this year, not even mentioning whomever they'll be facing in the finals. And this will stay the same until Wally's contract runs out after wich two things will happen.
1. He won't be resigned by the Cavs. Why should they? He's an agigng overpaid perimeter shooter on creaky knees. I love him, but that doesn't change things a bit.
2. LeBron will sign elsewhere. Because I highly doubt that two years of loosing in the conference finals (instead of going to the finals the year before) will convince him to stay.
Maybe Ferry will land the big jackpot with some trade of all the expiring contracts the will have by then, to get King James a legitimate second star and thereby concince LeBron otherwise (meaning: not to leave via FA) but I doubt it. And even then, it would surely be Wally who will be dealt because of his expiring contract, so I doubt he'll win a ring in CLE.
That being said, and back to the original question.
Yes, KG4LVP is right. Given that LeBron's supporting cast isn't much better now than KG's (ok, better than what he had most of the time...far better, but let's take KG's MVP season here, when he had a decent supporting cast) saying that he will win a ring now will either mean
a) LeBron is a superior player to KG (all in all and with no regard of their positions) or
b) Danny Ferry is such a genius GM, that he will find a way to get a second star next offseason without trading Wally.
But to be honest, I guess no one on this board really doubts that LeBron will win a championship sooner or later. It seems inevitable considering his talent and the way, a single player can affekt whole games in this league. Only, IMO Wally won't participate in it.
