Eastern Conference Finals

Rockets over Pistons

I may not be completely sane, but the West is such a tossup i'm going with the rockets. At least I'll look smart if I'm right.

Originally, I would seriously go with CW and my admired Spurs, but because that would be lame just to repeat what Mr. Neartoknowitall posted, I'll go with...

Western

Lakers over Spurs in 7

Eastern

Celtics over Pistons in 5

Finals

Celtics over Lakers in 7

There you go. Almost as propably as CW's proposal.

EDIT: I would like to empahsize that for this outcome I assume that
a) Andre Bynum returns at least at 90% he was before his injury
b) The Celtics somehow pick up Sam-I-Am in the next weeks

The Daddy must reserve judgment until mid March.
Although CW's prediction is ludicrous. The Spurs will lose in the first round because my malice toward them alone will be enough to force them to self-destruct. And because Bowen sucks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for that. However, they are just too good and have too much experience.

Western Conference Finals:

Dallas -v- Spurs
Dallas could be pesky now with Kidd in the mix and the Mavs wanting to redeem themselves from last year's fate...Spurs however will win 4-3 in a Texas showdown for the ages...

Pistons -v- Cavs
Pistons are too tough and are really flying under the radar....Pistons will win 4-2 as they find a way to overcome Flip's inability to win in the playoffs

Spurs over Pistons 4-2...The Spurs celebrate yet another title and people continue to hate Duncan and Manu because they keep winning...I guess I could live with that if I were a Spurs fan...:cheer:

A sidenote here...the \"new\" Celtic fans will be highly dissappointed when they see a dejected KG with a sweaty head hanging down thinking, \"How could this happen again?\" This is a site many TWolves fans are used to seeing so we can empathize with you when this happens!

As of right now, I am inclined to pick Utah to win the West. However, I really have not seen them play at all this year, so let me watch them tonight and I will get back to you.

In the East, I am having trouble deciding between Boston, Detroit, and Cleveland, who all things considered are fairly even IMO, and much better than any other squads in the East. It is hard for me to form solid opinions until I see each team play.

I'll be back with more concrete opinions soon....

I just don't think Dallas has that killer instinct to win it all...

I am really struggling with this question right now.

In the East:
-Boston has had the best record all year. They also have 3 long-time all stars, who also happen to be good team guys, and compliment each others games fairly well. They have a nice base of role players who are both experienced and young. And they play great defense as a whole. However, this is the first year for a majority of them. The lack of playoff experience together could be a factor. Also, picking a Doc Rivers coached team to win it all makes me nervous.

-Detroit has the 2nd best record in the league. Their core has been together for a long time and has a ton of playoff experience together. They are kind of laying in the weeds, going unnoticed, which is exactly how they want it. And they play great defense as a whole. However, they are not seemingly as deep as the C's or Cavs. And they have shown less fire than they should have in the playoffs the last couple of years.

-Cleveland has LeBron. They now have 10-11 legitimate rotation players on a good team. LBJ is the best player on the planet, and pretty much single-handidly led them to the Finals last year. They finally have a multitude of guys surrounding LeBron who can nail the open shot. However, they have a lot of good players, but do they have a legitmate 2nd option? And with a hobbled Z, they severely lack interior offense.

Right now, I'm handicapping it (in terms of likelyhood to win the Eastern Conference):
1. Boston
2. Cleveland
3. Detroit

I'll post my West thoughts later.

I think the Pistons have the deepest bench of anyone in the East actually. All their youngsters are playing awesome and are not relied upon to win games for them, which is how it should be. C's have second best and Cleveland worst from your list of 3, imo.

Wait a minute...you think the Pistons have a better bench than Boston or Cleveland? Let's compare...

Cleveland
PG - D. West/D. Jones
SG - S. Pavlovic
SF - W. Szczerbiak
PF - J. Smith
C - A. Varejao

Boston
PG - S. Cassell/T. Allen
SG - E. House
SF - J. Posey
PF - G.Davis/L. Powe
C - PJ Brown

Detroit
PG - R. Stuckey
SG - A. Affalo/J. Dixon
SF - J. Hayes
PF - W. Herrmann
C - J. Maxiell

I still think the Pistons bench is the weakest. Especially come playoff time.
