This week is being hosted by
Celticsblog The rankings are not up yet... they should be today, or tomorrow at the latest.
Here's my comments and votes for this week:
MVP (1st = 10, 2nd = 9... and so on.)
10 – Lebron James: A league where he isn’t MVP this season is a league I don’t want any part of.
9 – Kevin Garnett: He stays in the thick of the race only because the Celtics have the best overall record. His stats are significantly down, but it should not be underestimated what he does for their team chemistry and defense. He is a leader in every sense of the word.
8 – Chris Paul: One of the best records in the West? Check. Averages a Double-Double? Check. Leading the league in steals per game? Check. Rescues babies from burning buildings and apprehends criminals on off days? Not yet determined, but I wouldn’t count against it.
7 – Kobe Bryant: 10 and 1 in their last eleven games. It could be because they acquired Pau Gasol… or it could be because Kobe’s just that damn good. I don’t even like the Lakers, but I’m not afraid to admit it.
6 – Dwight Howard: Averaging 21.6 points and 14.8 rebounds since the last edition of the Rankings. Somewhere Michael Olowokandi is wondering where he went wrong.
5 – Manu Ginobili: Scored 44 points against my TWolves last Thursday… I was not amused. Seriously, is anyone playing better than Manu the past three weeks? Maybe Lebron and Kobe, but that’s about it.
4 – Tim Duncan: Who won the race… the tortoise or the hare? That’s what I thought… slow and steady he goes.
3 – Dirk Nowitzki: Jason Kidd can only help his game (and the Mavericks.) Averaging 27.8 points per game since the last edition. It’s tough to praise the Mavericks for anything in particular, but at the same time you can’t really ignore them.
2 – Baron Davis: The rest of you voters have been straight hating on him all season long. Where is the love?
1 – Chris “Caveman” Kaman: This man is an absolute beast. He eats babies and dunks at the same time. He can dunk from half-court. He has a 46 inch vertical. He can play all five positions. He can defend all five positions. What a straight up man-imal. He’s still top 10 in the league in Double-Doubles, with 31. Ok, I made all of that up except the last comment… but still, what’s not to love about him?!?!
ROY (1st = 5, 2nd = 4... and so on)
5 – Kevin Durant: Winning something by default is still winning.
4 - Al Horford: Will only get better has his career progresses, but has shown flashes of inconsistency since the last edition.
3 – Al Thorton: Could easily be known as the best player in this draft 5 years from now.
2 – Jamario Moon: He won the coin flip for “Best 27 year old rookie” this time around.
1 – Corey Brewer: Because I am a homer and didn’t really see any other rookies I like.
