I can see how that was a tough game for the Lakers and their fans.

Personally, it was one of my highlights as a teenager after Bird called his team a bunch of sissies after Game 3 and then McHale took out Rambis in Game 4 in LA. One of the best all-time Finals...and outcomes! B)

Well, Tod, being a lifelong Laker fan (and, therefore, a lifelong Celtic hater), I have to repeat that McHale's gross cheap shot was one of worst non-calls ever made. It should have been a gross flagrant foul, McHale should have been ejected from the game and, probably, suspended for the duration of the playoffs.

If I was Rambis, I would have broken that SOB's knee at the soonest opportunity. You hit me in the throat, flagrantly, you better hope you put me in the hospital because YOU just declared war on me.

Besides, McHale was a little bitch - almost as big a bitch as Ainge, who appeared to be whining even when the call went his way.

Here's a little perspective (mine) for you:

Kermit Washington/Rudy Tomjanovich: There is a near riot going on. Washington is facing his own basket. He turns and sees some 6'8" guy bearing down on him from the opposite end of the court, running full speed.

What would you do? Let him tackle you while running full speed? I am going to clock that bozo, too.

While it was unfortunate that Rudy got his jaw shattered, maybe he should have just stayed out of it.

Ron Artest goes after the fan: You know what? Little punk has been mouthing off all night and then throws a beer on me? I am going to use him for slam dunk practice! What ever gave that dwarf (mental and physical) the idea that throwing a beer on MWP was a good idea? Little punk was lucky.

So, I totally disagree with you, McHale was completely in the wrong and it was a completely bullshit play by a master cheapshot artist.

You sir, Mr. MerryPrankster, are a winner. This post just reeks of straight old school.

There were no flagrant foul calls then, but he certainly could have been ejected for that. How the refs and league responded to that play had nothing to do with McHale.

I do agree with you totally about what should have been the Lakers' response. (Did Rambis ever comment on that at the time?) I think they tried to some extent, and succeeded in game six to win the battle and game that day. But, alas, Boston won the war that year.

Ahh...those '80's Lakers-Celtics finals were epic. Its great how they still stir emotions/hatred! At the time, I thought it was great when Sampson hit that shot to knock the Lakers out in 1986. But now I realize that all that did was rob us of what would have been one more amazing battle. That was the Celtics best team and it is too bad they didn't face off that year too. Oh well, at least we got to see 3 Bird-Magic finals.

If you want to check out how 5 former Wolves are doing this season:

Karma applaud to Adelman for getting rid of four of these guys.

Karma smite to Kahn for...well, we all know.

Bwahahahaha Beasley sucks. What an epic terrible FA signing!!!

Saw that one coming...

Speaking of Beasley. He's a cancer now? Come on Beas, if you're reading this (which we know you, like everyone else, are), your redeeming quality to us fans is the fact that you are a awesome and hilarious human while being a good guy. Yes, you suck on the court. The difference in IQ between you and Shane Battier is as large a difference as can exist. But don't become a bad person B-Easy.

This is a bad look, if true. Just sit on the bench and be funny. Work hard and suddenly mature when you're 29 years old like every other guy in your situation.

The '60s confrontations were pretty epic, too, starting with the Baylor/West Lakers and the Russell/Cousy Celtics. I remember one Game 7 in MSG - don't recall the year, offhand - but the Lakers go in down 6 at the half. I'm thinking, "The Lakers have the Celtics exactly where they wanted them!"

Yep, the Lakers won.

Re: the "easy" schedule: Yeah, I can see how one might come to the conclusion that 13 home vs 8 road games to start would seem to have some advantage to that team. On the other hand, it may also mean that they may have to endure the exact opposite of that 21-game run later in the year. I haven't paid any particular attention to any team's schedule, so I have no way of knowing this was or was not the easiest schedule. I'll just take your word for it.

BTW, their schedule is about to even up. They are in the first game of a 4-game road trip. Lakers have closed to within 9 of the Cavs, late in the 3rd, but they did not look good, at all, in the first half.

The Lakers lost to the Cavs :woohoo:

They did have Kyrie Irving back though. 28 points 11 assists, not bad.

Lakers staged a nice comeback in the 2nd half, getting within a basket of tying the game late in the 4th. They looked worse than miserable in the first half. What were they? Down 16?

I'm still not going to make any judgments before I see Nash play a few games -

We'll see what's happening in Jan.

Haha I know they are hilarious. D'antoni is way out of his league here. The Lakers are going to crash and burn.

Not that you have to agree with these people, but some dialogue on whether T-Mac, AI, Sheed, Grant Hill, and Vinsanity are worthy of the HOF.

Bwahahahahaha I am sooooooooo loving this Lakers collapse! It is beyond epic. And it makes me sooooo happy that I semi-predicted it this off-season. Oh yeah, true story.

Suck on that Lakers, I hope you guys miss the playoffs LOL! :woohoo:
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."
