This is from ESPN.com:

Beasley #1???
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

It's a tough call because the guy could be phenomenal, but there are those nagging questions about his character/work ethic. The only thing you can hope for is that all the negative talk actually pushes him the opposite way. People certainly aren't fawning all over him and crowning him as the next \"great one\".

I think Rose is a sure thing, albeit with a lower ceiling, but we've already got a ton of guards.

Gun to my head, I'm going with Beasely. You can't let the fear of drafting a \"bust\" scare you out of the guy who almost everyone agrees will be the best in his draft class.

Saw the Memphis highlights tonight. Granted, they were playing some junk team, but Rose looked amazing. He's as quick as Chris Paul with the ability to elevate like Monta Ellis. He's pretty sick.

With that said, I don't think we can go wrong with either Rose or Beasley. Dangit we REALLY need one of the top two picks!!!

Surely there is an argument that Rose is what we need structurally, ie. a PG to feed Al.

As has been discussed on this site previously, Beasley could be a 3 or 4 in theNBA and while we don't have these positions covered, we do have a number of warm bodies at those positions.

Yeah, while I don't think teams should completely \"Draft for need\", regardless that is a great argument for taking Rose. And it's not like Rose is a stiff either. He's easily one of the top 3 players in the NCAA.

There are very few players in NCAA history who have scored like Beasley. If I count right he has 13 30+ point games and counting. That is unique. I've really liked Rose's game the last couple of times I've seen him play, but I just don't see how he is truely a once in a lifetime guy.

I keep hearing the Beasley jumped around from school to school in High School and that he was a pain in the butt. Personally if his issues have been on the court (versus legal) and they haven't reared their ugly head in college I wouldn't worry too much. I might worry more if we didn't have Al Jefferson established as a star on this team.

I'd love the Beasley pick at 1. I'd love the Rose pick at 2. I'd consider it a fire worthy offense if Rose was picked at 1. That said I think that if Rose was averaging 3 more assists and 6 more points a game I think McHale would still go with Beasley because he is biased to big guys.

I can see your point DeROK, in that Beasely and the great potential he has...but the Wolves have never really had a franchise point guard...My facts may be a bit fuzzy but is Marbary the only true PG we drafted???

I think Rose would be a GREAT fit for this team and possibly solidfy the PG position for years to come like the Hornets & Jazz have...Would it not be nice that we could actually have a true PG (a young one) who could dawn the Wolves uniform for years to come???

I SAY BRING ON ROSE!!!

For once I COMPLETELY agree with your reasoning.

Honestly though, we couldn't go wrong with Beasley or Rose.

Personally n this is just me, i rather draft a big guy, yet i still wouldnt draft for need. If it came down to one or the other, id still go for Rose.. But if Beasilly was available go for him its a 50 50 for me. I still think our main off season goal is to get a center.

I think you can get by with out a big man...we have a great big man now and I think a servicable center would be fine...there is nothing other than a PG that would be worth the Wolves pick this year...if we can't get the PG we need than trade the pick because we would probably pass on Beasly and take this guy....

I'm confused... you are saying the McHale would take Hansbourgh infront of Beasley if both guys were available? The early 90's wolves would definately have done that but I don't think McHale would. I don't think Glen Taylor would let him.

Thinking about drafting him with our lottery pick makes me just want to cry.

The Wolves have no business thinking about \"drafting for need\"... we have exactly ONE untouchable player on this roster. I really think we need to go with Rose... I would love having Rose/Jefferson anchoring this team for years to come.
