He reportedly asked to be traded. Would you consider trading for him? I would. First off, he's IMO better than Kyle Orton, not a headcase like Vince Young and younger than McNabb.

Secondly, I am ware he didn;t have the greatest season this year (26 TDs, 20 INT) but look at his attempts and yards. he attempted 100 more passes and still mantained his QB rating. That's mostly because Cedric Benson and the whole Bengals running game sucked this year. Last season, when pressure was smaller because Benson was tearing it up, Palmer played solid ball and got his team to the playoffs.

This year he had to deal with the usual Ochocinco bullshit just magnified by the TO effect.

With AP in the backfield he really doesn't have to carry the team all by himself like he had to this season in Cinci. And if he *really* wants out, being in the AFC I bet the bengals would throw him our way for T-Jack or Webb plus a pick. I'd even give T-Jack/Webb and a 2nd rounder for Palmer and a 3rd round pick. 3rd rounder would be perfect just straight up but we don;t have one because of the Randy Moss deal, kk? -_-

Would you deal for him? Or rather prefer dealing for Orton? Or signing McNabb?

wouldn't touch him. What would we do with a qb who can't stay healthy? Ever since he tore his knee ligaments in 2005 he has never been the same quarterback, then you have the whole elbow ligament deal he's had since 2008. Yeah the bengals made the playoffs last year but that was because of Cedric Benson carrying that team ala Adrian Peterson when Tjack was the qb. As soon as they got to the playoffs they lost because playoff teams know the qb can't throw and just stop the running back. His best year after coming back from knee surgery was the first year back and he hasn't come close to that form since then. He is also a Qb who throws 15+ ints a season. That's almost 1 a game. Not the quarterback i'm looking for.

Palmer hasn't been very good since he had his knee taken out against the Steelers. That said if I had to rank the 3 guys you mentioned....

1. Orton
2. Palmer
3. McNabb

If we take a 1st/2nd round QB I could justify trading a 6th round pick for Palmer to hold down the farm until the new guy is ready.

None of the available options are appealing, but I'm sure I'll talk myself into whoever the Vikings finally acquire, because they're all significantly better than what we have right now.

Hahaha, so true. :silly:
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

I think Palmer could be pretty good on our team, and I like him overall, but I wouldn't want him because his salary is gigantic. He has like 3 years and $50 million left on it or something like that?

Yea Carson "Pick 6" Palmer is still owed like $60 million and he sucks dong. I wouldn't give up anything more than a 6th round pick for him.

This is how I would rate the options right now:

1. Orton
2. Webb
3. Vince Young
4. draft a QB
5. Palmer
.
.
.
1,371,903. McNabb

well Coach said he wants to go young but with palmer in the mix i say we should go for him give them future picks n skip drafting our first pick as a QB we could get a solid CB or Olinemen then draft a solid QB in teh 2nd or 3rd round have palmer take him under his wing

Yeah, I don't think Palmer is *that bad*. He has a bad contract and has been around a ton of dysfunction the past few years.

If we had him on a different contract here in Minnesota I'd totally take him as our QB.

Palmer is just another overhyped USC Quarterback. Not one of them has been a good qb in the nfl. The best one is Sanchez just because the Jets focus on a run game and a really good defense. If Palmer is our qb mine as well throw another season down the toilet. Once he throws 20 Int's everyone will be hating on him even though that is the type of quarterback you are getting if you trade for him.

Yes the contact is the death blow to the Palmer idea. On a 1-2 year 6-7M deal as a short term starter/quality backup while a young guy is groomed works. $50M is just too much even if Cinci game him to us.

Ok, I don't get what is so bad about Palmer.

Years 2-4 were fantastic! Then he got hurt, and then the past two years have been average (but certainly better than any QB we have now.) He averaged like 3,500 yards, 23 TD's, and about 16 INT's.

That's not terrible.

In his six year career, he's thrown exactly 20 INT's twice. He has had more than 25 TD's 4 times. He's thrown for 4,000 yards twice, and was SO CLOSE to 4,000 yards two other times.

And this is on the dysfunctional Bengals, one of the worst run organizations in pro sports.

We could do a lot worse than Palmer.

How are you all more level headed about the Vikings than the Wolves? Pretty good convo. You just have no clue with Palmer. TJack might outperform him. Then again, he might give you 30 TD's and 10 INT's and be alright. probably not. Let's bring back Randy Moss to resurrect his career at quarterback...

I'll add that Palmer has had one injury plagued season. Otherwise the guy has played 16 games.

As was noted, it sounds like Frasier is committed to going swinging for the fences on a young QB. Reading between the lines says that the defense has aged and needs to be retooled before making another legitimate run. If you draft a QB expectations for the next two years are immediately lowered. Then if they manage not to suck Frasier looks like a genius.
