So I heard this Vikes rumor that there is some talk in the Carolinas about a Julius Peppers for Chester Taylor + draft pick trade. I have heard absolutely nothing about this before I heard today and really don't know if there's any truth to it. From what they said the pick would likely be a 3rd rounder.

How could we not do this trade if there's truth to it? Yea he only had like 2 sacks last year, but you don't just go from being the best DE in football to a nobody in a year.

I've been looking for info about it on the internet, there just seems to be some talk about it in message boards. Some think it's plausible, but most don't think it'd happen.

The only reason it makes sense is because Peppers may be on the \"decline\" and he's in the last year of his contract for $14 mil. Panthers are so crappy, maybe they're rebuilding. We'd have to re-sign him long term, man I would love to have him though.

This looks like classic rumors gone wild but I figured I'd post it.
The supposed logic is that Jordan Gross and Peppers want too much money. Given the way the cap has been going up you are better off having a good player making a bit too much money than having cap room. You can't parlay cap room into bringing in studs like Gross and Peppers because everyone has so much money to spend.

No way in hell fate shines on the Vikings this favorably.

I think we have to do this. Think about that defense, Pat and Kevin Williams haven't been getting hurt and demand a lot of attention, having Peppers will make the opposing teams draw up blocking schemes that will probably require a TE or RB staying on him so now Greenway isn't getting burned in coverage (which he did last season), and even more lanes open up for EJ to blast people, which has been awesome ever since EJ decided he wanted to be one of the best young LBs in the league.
