Always punch above our weight.
Some of my highlights:
1. Usain Bolt. Enough said.
2. The German weightlifter Mathias Steiner winning gold. Every time I see him celebrate after that final lift I nearly cry. His wife passed away a year ago - on the dias he pulled out a photo of her. Magic stuff.
3. Matthew Mitcham - young Australian diver who gave it away three years ago and only began training again 18 months ago. China had won every individual gold diving medal to date. Mitcham was in second and needed a miracle to take gold. He then nailed a dive which received the highest score in Olympic history. In Olympic History. I. Shit. You. Not.
4. Kenenisa Bekele in the Men's 5000m. Best middle distance runner ever. A performance of staggering brilliance.
Wow... I saw Matthew Mitcham win the gold as it happened! That was incredible, props to him. He needed to average 9.5's or something like that on his final dive and he pulled off four 10's (I believe) in an amazing and almost perfect dive. Great TV right there. Way to go.
Also, props to Australia and their medal count. They are usually towards the top of the overall medals, which is amazing considering the population of their country!
