The NCAA has started meeting with broadcasters to explore the media value of expanding the men’s basketball tournament field, industry sources say.

As part of that process, the group also is gauging the feasibility of moving the tournament from broadcast to cable.

This would be the worst sports business decision since the dawn of man (if there are sports being played professionally in other solar systems I would guess they are smarter than this too).

Wow. That sounds utterly preposterous {in a Stephen A. Smith voice}.

Next thing you know, the NCAA will discuss having basketball bowl games and ranking teams with a BCS-like system. I couldn't imagine a more idiotic group of people than the one that runs the NCAA.

Why don't they just make the NCAA tournament 256? It could start in February. Then they wouldn't have to waste time with the regular season...
