You'll notice when you read the story the word Devil is never used BUT this is the front page link to it "Newspaper sorry for depicting Coach K as devil". ESPN used devil because it is a hot button word because of religion which they can get away with because it is a pun on Blue Devils.
The phenomenon of Duke being a vilified program is well known and not controversial. Also the idea of doodling on a picture of someone you don't like is a fairly classic thing to do. It isn't remotely controversial. I would have expected this to be no skin of Coach K's back. For him to take the ultimate low road,
