Capps is basically Rauch. The only reason anyone knows who he is, is because he got saves on crappy Pirates and Nationals teams. Saves and W-L record are the two most overrated stats there are for pitchers.
My brother hated the Delmon for Garza deal so I've got some experience trying to justify it. In reguards to his recent hitting streak, yeah its helped but he has over 80 rbi so I believe the whole year hes played well. His D in the field is suspect, can't argue that. Although he has looked better as of late.
Not trying to sound like I know X amount about baseball because I really don't. Just from what I've witnessed over the years watching Twins baseball when we hit we win. We are among the top teams every year in D with fewest errors. We are usually among the league leaders in bullpen saves and ERA. Last year we were among leaders in hits with runners in scoring position. I mean the list goes on. What we don't have is HR hitting. And that's what I believe we saw in Young in the first place.
When Rauch takes the mound he makes me nervous, a feeling I haven't had in so long I just can't stand it. Having Nathan is such a luxury I forgot how lucky we were. At least Capps gives us another option at the least. We have Mauer who cares what we do with any back-ups. Mauer and Butera are just fine. Plus we still have Morales:)
