I dunno if you guys are following along, but Jeter has declined the Yankees first offer of 3 years, $45 million. He's disgusted with it. I find this stuff hilarious, and wonder how much he'll ultimately get.
You know the Yankees and Jeter have to work something out. No one else will pay him a ton because of his skills (at least they shouldn't), yet the Yankees can't afford to lose him in free agency to any other team because of what he provides for the Yankees "brand." Can you imagine the uproar if they let him walk to another team? What a Catch-22 that is for them. Some team should offer Jeter 6 years (it would really suck to get stuck with that though), and something like $125 million... and then the Yankees have to match it. I think they would, because then his contract years coincide with ARod anyways. LOL! Screw you Yankees!
Hell, some team should offer him 10 years, $250 million because their's NO WAY the Yankees are letting him go...
The great JOE POSNANSKI weighs in on Derek Jeter:

So what do you guys think Jeter ultimately re-signs for? I could see something like 4 years, $75 million. It would be great if they get screwed though and end up paying like 6 years, $150 million HAHAHA.
