Good call Whiskey! Good call!
How about that Jags/Steelers game? That was absolutely horrible late-game management by Mike Tomlin.
Going for two, down five when you get to take it from the two yard line was risky. Yeah, it puts you within a field goal, but a Jaguars TD would've killed them by putting them down 12, which means they would've needed two TD's to catch up instead of a TD, a 2-point conversion, and a FG if they were down 4 and the Jags scored a TD to go up 11.
But like I said, from the 2 yard line, it's a 50-50 shot and you can't knock it. But when a holding penalty means you have to take it from the 12, then you kick the extra point. What were the chances of them converting from the 12? 10%? Take the point!
And then when they went for the TD on 4th down trailing by 5 instead of kicking the field goal, they only got bailed out of turning it over on downs because of a horrible call against Jacksonville where Hines Ward was all over the defense's facemask. In that situation you should kick the field goal, play D, and kick another one. If you don't get that TD there, then you have to drive all the way to the end zone again instead of to the 30 or 35.
Anyway, they got bailed out by the bad call and went up 1 point. But them going for 2 before forced them to go for 2 again after they scored the TD to go up 1. The missed both 2 point conversions, instead of hitting the chippy extra points which would have put them up 3, and Scobee's FG would've sent the game into OT.
Horrible! I knew they were going to lose when they went for 2 on the 12. Bad decisions like that always come back to bite you!
