With too many players on our team right now it is interesting to see who will be on the team at the start of the season. Here are the players that I think will be on the Wolves 12 man roster when the season begins. This is without any major trades.

Starters
PG = Randy Foye
SG = Ricky Davis
SF = Corey Brewer
PF = Al Jefferson
C = Mark Blount
Reserves
Sebastian Telfair
Gerald Green
Trenton Hassell
Juwan Howard or Rashad McCants because Juwan will likely be traded.
Craig Smith
Theo Ratliff
Ryan Gomes

Who do you think or want to be on the 12 man roster?:)

Corey Brewer won't be starting... at least not on Day 1. Other than that, I agree with your starting lineup. My guess is that the starting SF is Gomes.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Generally my proposal looks very similar (as I have posted in the old forum), but does anyone really believe that Theo Ratliff will spend one second on the active list for the team? Especially now that we've signed thatguyfromthedleague?

No, good point. I was in a hurry and forgot to mention that as well.

Love the nickname: \"thatguyfromthedleague\" hahahahahahaha :laugh:

Do you guys really believe that Gomes will start instead of Trenton Hassell, the only player who has proven himself defensively on this team? Please..

Let Ricky play the 2 on offense, and let Hassler take care of the opposing team's top scorer defensively.

Well, I know there a plenty of Hassel-lovers around and myself, I have often admitted that I am a huge fan of him since his days with the bulls, making him my personal B-Ball role model...but he is definitely nothing more than a valueable roleplayer. Someone you bring from the bench to accomplish a certain task, in his case defending the opponent's best guard and maybe small forward.

But he ist still only 6'5 which adds to the size problems this team has struggled with the last seasons and he does not bring much to the table besides above average perimeter defense (I intentionally not use terms like excellent or superior), solid ball movement and the self-awareness to defer to any other scoring option before him.

College Wolf might be a victim of his own wishful thinking in the first place, but Gomes got size at 6'7 as well as superior statistics while playing only two minutes more than Hassel on an equally bad team with equally dominating players: He scores more on better shooting (especially from beyond the arc which will open up space inside for Jefferson) and grabs more boards that Hassel does and ever will. Besides he has proven to be no dud on the defensive end as well, so I do not see a point in not putting Hassel back where his place is: On the bench as a sixth or seventh rotation player. A position he can be extremely valueable in (which is why I believe he is one of the few Wolves which is tradeable).

Hear Hear. Gomes will start. He should at least. He's a legit 6'7-8\" and 250 pounds. His offense and rebounding is far better than Hassell. Hassell's defense is average at best, especially after the rule changes regarding perimeter defense two years ago.

Gomes is so painfully underrated it makes me want to cry. :(

There's no way that Jaric will be the deactivated player when he's making 6 Million+ per season. I wouldn't disagree with it, but it won't happen. People have GOT to be traded. Our roster is retarded right now.

I agree that it would be difficult to deactivate him with his salary, but who else would you sit? Howard makes just as much money. You can't deactivate the young guys, at least not if you have a brain.

That's why it's imperative they make some roster moves. That's the job of the Front Office... we shouldn't even be saddled with having to discuss what players with guaranteed contracts get deactivated every game. If something doesn't happen it's going to be a complete joke.

Hmmm...that sounds familiar to me :laugh: ! Oh, no wait...I conceded Hassel to have ABOVE avarage defensive abilities (not more than that but at least ;) ).

@ Trades:
I totally agree that something HAS to happen, otherwise this roster will be completely unmanagable, without a clearly defined hierarchy (except for Jefferson and Foye), too many players with either talent or huge contracts competing for the same minutes, with already too many players on the roster and another promising draft pick yet unsigned.

But sadly, as we have figured out in other topics, there are only few players even theoretically tradeable on this team and usually they are not the ones that cause the lineup headaches. Given the fact that Wolves' Brass isn't reknown for shrewd dealing...the chances on something significant happening...especially something that reasonably changes the roster into a more balanced unit are extremely slim.

I totally agree. I don't see any way to make this roster work unless trades (or another round of buyouts) occur. Personally, I would deactivate McCants:P

Just kidding...

I agree with you CW, how did we get in this position???

5 players for 1 in the KG trade, while necessary, did not help our roster situation.
