Interesting... however, Miami already has a full roster and then some.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

McHale's \"waiting to hear back on 3 or 4 deals\"

hahahahha, yeah right!

Do I understand correctly? Jason Williams and Michael Doleac for Hassel and Davis?

The salaries match up well and the Wolves would surely benefit from the expiring contracts and adding another true point guard sounds good to hear at first, but I think we would be screwed over with that trade. It wouldn't be the first time, given that...

...but to do such a trade only to do a trade, especially if it is two-for-two of which one player we get is another guard again...one of the few point guards in this league who are older than me, btw. and whose game is / was based on deminishing quickness, flash and wild trees...that does not solve the crowded roster or bring back equal value for maybe the only tradeable assets we have (a 20 ppg wing scorer and a solid perimeter defender) besides Howard.

As much as I hope for a trade to happen...pleeeeeeeease not that one!

Davis and Blount for J-Will and Udonis Haslem...that was something we could talk about.

EDIT: Thinking about it, this trade I proposed could be beneficial to both teams and it would work contract wise as well. I want THAT trade to happen ;) ! But considering that it at least might make some sense, it is highly unlikely to ever happen.

To trade any of the \"chump contracts\" on our roster, we are gonna have to make bad deals (aka in the other teams favor) just to get rid of our guys.

I don't really care who we trade... As long as we get back a less number of players that have expiring contracts in return. Throw in McCants and make it a 3 for 2 trade. I'd rather switch Jaric's deal with Hassell's, but I could live with that. It would really help our financial situation to have those two expiring contracts after this season.

I personally don't like the trade. Ricky has had attitude problems in the past but he's still 15-20 point scorer. I wouldn't trade that away simply to get rid of Hassell's deal. That's basically all we're accomplishing as Ricky is expiring himself. We don't have a solid SG or anyone who even appears to be heading that way for quite some time. Why trade away Ricky when he could be a valuable piece to the puzzle? If Brewer really takes off, then maybe he's more dispensible. Otherwise I say we keep him and try to resign him to a reasonable contract.

A three-man core of Foye, Davis, and Jefferson could be a very solid foundation in a year or two. I think we should try to develop the team around them instead of ditching Ricky and having to fill a void at the SG spot.

IMHO I dont like this trade. Ricky i think is a valuable player to the team. He is a good scorer, something we need. Personally I think they need to trade Blount or Jaric instead.

I don't like this deal either. Davis is one of our best scorers, and we do need some veterans on the team. You know I like Hassell, so I'd like him to stay too. Jason Williams is temping though, we don't have a real point guard aside from Foye.

It's going to be hard, but we need to dump Jaric, and Blount too if we can.

You want the Wolves to re-sign Davis??? How much would you pay for him? And for how many years?

Also, I'd much rather do this deal if it were Jaric and Davis. Throw in McCants for good measure.

I would gladly have Ricky back on this team for the right price. And only for the right price.

Say what you will about the \"chemistry\" and \"attitude\" issues. He averaged 17ppg last year and will probably break 20 this season. That's not a player that I'm willing to just toss away for nothing in return. Davis has the skillset to be a real contributor in this league. Now whether he does or not depends a lot on him getting his head on straight. Who knows whether that will actually happen. But even if he continues to be a bit of a problem off the court, his on the court production should be good enough to cancel that out and still make him a positive for this squad.

Look at our list of people who could see time at the 2 spot. (I'm assuming Foye stays put at the point)

McCants - Don't count on him for more than 10 a night, MAX. And I mean, like in your wildest dreams, MAX.

Brewer - Potentially an All-NBA defender, but his shooting leaves something to be desired.

Green - Better suited as a 3

Marko - Probably more of a 1 or a 3

Hassell - More of a 3, not a good scorer

Can you honestly say that anybody on that list is going to be near the caliber of Davis as an offensive threat in the next 2, even 3 seasons? Maybe Green, but he's more of a SF. Point is, we're dumb to send 17ppg packing when we've got no viable replacement.

If in two years you have Foye, Davis, and Jefferson as you're core, that's a good start. Now for the 3 spot you just have to hope that either Brewer, Green, or Gomes turns out to be a good player. (Gomes is sort of there already, but I'm talking consitently good for 15 a night) You're basically a center away from having a loaded starting 5.

Jefferson is likely going to be an elite PF, I'm guessing something along the lines of Elton Brand. Foye could easily become a regular 20pt scorer. Davis is already in the high teens. If one of those 3 that I mentioned develops, you could be seeing 75-80 points of offense from just four players. Maybe it's not the right combo for a championship, but a lineup like that makes you 1 trade away from landing the player who will make you a championship team. And we will likely have the pieces to make that trade.

So what do I want to resign Ricky for? We can probably get him on the cheap. Very few teams are under the cap, and I'm guessing even fewer of them will want to use that space on a player with Ricky's reputation. That leaves us to compete with teams offering the MLE. I personally think that if you can lock in Ricky for something slightly over that, it's a good deal. If Jaric or Hassell were putting up Ricky-esque numbers none of us would be complaining about their deals. I think something along those lines are fairly reasonable. I can't see him fetching more than that on the open market.

So that's my take on things. We could see some maturation from Ricky now that he's the team's best vet and the person who all the young guys \"should\" be looking up to. Maybe that will hit home with him and he'll rise to the occasion. And maybe that's just the optimist inside me talking myself into this, but I do think he does more good for the team than bad.
