Maybe not exactly what we needed for a PG...just another developing PG..

The Timberwolves finalized their roster late this afternoon, releasing Wayne Simien and placing Juwan Howard on waivers after a contract buyout as expected. They also made a last-minute deal that only makes sense in the convoluted world of NBA salary-cap specifics. San Antonio sent to the Wolves guard Beno Udrih and cash for a protected 2006 second-round draft pick that never will be delivered. The Wolves then waived Udrih and the Spurs got some salary-cap relief. Got it? I sure don’t.

They are saying that the Wolves got a little extra cash in the deal. SA couldn't just waive him because it would put them above the luxary tax or something. So, they gave the Wolves money to cover his contract and a little extra for the help.

What happens to Beno Udrih? Could he have been help at point guard? I can't recall any team in any sport making so many deals in such a short time where the players involved were secondary (or less) to the money involved (and/or roster limits). It seems we could've created a passable team just with players we've released in the past year, or that were released by the team that received them, (Hudson, Howard, Udrih, Edwards, Simien, Reed, etc.)

Why in the h e l l would the Wolves (of all teams) help out the Spurs with their salary cap!?!? Huh? What is in this for our team other than a few extra bucks? My goodness.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

For the record, the largest amount of $$$ that you can include in a NBA trade is $3 Million dollars.

Udrih is scheduled to make $1.747 Million this season.

Therefore, assuming the Spurs gave us $3 Million, Taylor could pocket a profit of $1.253 Million maximum. Is Taylor THAT desperate for money to help out a key rival? I wouldn't have done this to help SA get under the luxury tax.

I guess the money is suppose to be used towards Howard's buyout.

Where did you see that? Also, a million bucks? That won't pay too much of the buyout...

The Spurs make off like bandits in this deal. They don't have to pay however much they would have been over the luxury tax PLUS they get the bonus money from all the teams that are over the tax. It was like 3 or 4 million last season. Tell me again why this is a great move for us?

It isnt... This move is good for us in no way, unless Foye is out for a long time so they can put him on the DL so there will be room for this guy, a guy ive never herd of.

We will never play for us, as the Wolves have already cut him.

Essentially, the Wolves make money on the deal and will not be in jeopardy of losing the pick because it is protected. San Antonio, which gained salary-cap relief from the trade, will not receive the pick after next year.

Does this mean we won't have to give it up next year or if we don't give it up next year we'll never give it up? From a fan's perspective the team would be much better off using a 2nd rounder on stashing a young euro player overseas than selling it.

Taylor has been over the cap since he signed KG t o that outrageous 126 million dollar deal. Why would we help a team like the spurs for a million bucks now?
