Watching the game tonight I think the wolves need a player who is a legit threat from the outside for Al to pass out to and keep double teams off of him! I know Redick hasn't been playing much with Orlando and would welcome McHale using Marco or any of the bench players to get him. Redick also has back problems which is an issue. But the wolves need a \"pure\" shooter to balance Al's inside play!.. What ya'll think?

At first I'll think that this proposal belonged in the \"Timberwolves Trade Thread\" .

At second thought I'll notice that Marco is due apr. $ 6 Mil over the next three years and Redick only $ 2 Mil over the next two. That would mean at least one other of the Magic's players need to be included in that deal. And that would mean we would again get back more players than we sent to the other team...not very desireable. To avoid this, the Wolves had to include another player, making the salary gap even bigger, which would demand the Magic to include an even bigger contract besides Redick's in a two-for-two deal.

And since \"big contract\" at least sometimes equals \"big talent\", I highly doubt the Magic would do this. Leaving the problem of matching the salaries aside, I highly doubt that Orlando, who are already paying the luxury tax and have bound themselves for eternity by signing Lewis over the summer, would be willing to take on Jaric's bad contract.

They are already stacked at the small positions and Marco, at least the way he plays in the NBA, brings nothing to the table that makes him better than the (admittedly mediocre) backcourt the Magic field already. I have already snubed my highly admired College Wolf lately for not thinking about the other side with trade proposals. If there's no incentive in there for them, as in most trades wich leave the Wolves with the longer end of the stick, why should they do it? Only if we add some spice to it by offering expiring contracts or draft picks.

But in this case, I would hate to give up one of our expiring contracts or draft picks to entice the Magic into trading an uproven, injury-prone college marksman for a dissapointing foreign basketball icon.

I agree with you that the Wolves are in dire need of a consinstent outside threat and I am willing to trade Jaric for a used chewing gum, but I just cannot see how this trade proposal could work reallistically.

Neat idea, pants, although I would rather see him in the GM's chair than on the court again, no matter if McHale seems to have finally at least graped the fundamentals of being an NBA GM.

Unfortunately, consistent shooters with deep range are hard to find and sought after by many teams who are willing to dig reasonably deep into their pockets to employ them (recent examples: Peja Stojakovic, Jason Kapono, Matt Caroll), albeit they usually are only one-trick-dogs, who can't do anything besides shooting the rock. But if can make a career out of it...why hesitate? But this won't make it any easier to snatch a reliable floor-spreader from somewhere else than the draft.
