I've mentioned this several times this season in my various \"Musings\" articles. I've never layed out any hard facts or info... but I have looked at 82games.com. Well, rather telling you all that it's simply a bad idea to play Big Al at center (rather than his natural position of Power Forward), here's Britt Robson in his latest edition of his excellent blog, \"On The Ball: The Three Pointer\":

Britt Robson:
First, let's drag out the numbers once again. The latest figures from 82games.com don't even take into account this weekend's losses to Portland and Seattle. But they show that Al Jefferson--who everyone and their third cousin knows is a classic NBA power forward--has played the center position for 54% of the minutes the Wolves have been on the court during the team's first 27 games. During that time, the Wolves were minus -222. During the 46% of the time Al Jefferson was NOT playing center for the Timberwolves, the team was minus -1. People can usually juggle statistics to justify most anything they want, but it is difficult to imagine numbers this stark and dramatic shrieking anything but \"Play Jefferson at the 4, beside a legit center!\"

We need a legit center and we need one fast. Any chance Chris Richard can fulfill this role?
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Greetings all - long time lurker, first time poster.

I would wonder whether Richard be is he big enough to be a legit NBA centre?

Now in my part of the world, I see precious little Wolves footage (lucky me), so forgive me a foolish question.

Michael Doleac is sitting on the bench and is a centre.

I know he is an expiring contract and won't be around beyond this season, but surely he can get more minutes and provide some defensive steel in the frontcourt?

Welcome to the board, good to see you start posting!

The problem with Doleac is that he just isn't very physical and can't really bang down low, which is what we need in a center opposite Jefferson. Doleac is only like 6-11 and 260 pounds, which really isn't much bigger than Richard, if at all.

Lastly, the Front Office/Coach knows that Doleac won't be around after this season, which is probably why they don't \"waste the time\" playing him, so to speak.

Honestly, I'd rather give Richard the minutes that Doleac. At least Richard can rebound and provide some toughness inside.

Hope that answers your question.
