TOPIC: Battle of the Bloggers - Round 3

Re:Battle of the Bloggers - Round 3 5 years 9 months ago #580

I agree with Derok on this one as well. There's no way CW deserved last because he voiced an unpopular (although I agree with it) opinion. Your opinion is not how arguments are judged.

Person 1: \"I like Chocolate\"

Person 2: \"You're an idiot and a worthless human being because I like Vanilla. I hope you choke on a plastic spoon.\"

I do enjoy people expressing alternate opinions from mine and challenging my ideas, otherwise what's the point?

No doubt. I knew he wouldn't necessarily \"like\" my stance, but I couldn't possibly imagine it was last place worthy. Wow. I'm honestly shocked. I'm not gonna complain about it, so whatever I guess.

I guess I could have went with the flow and just said blah blah blah Foye will be better next year/look out he's a future all-star or whatever. However, anyone that knows what I've been saying for the past year would recognize that as hypocritical and me as \"selling out\" for a better ranking. So, I didn't want to do that... and rather choose to stay true to my beliefs. If that was worth last place, so be it.

That's howl-worthy my friend. You're almost back to zero now.

Ha, thanks dude!

Yeah, it's a long arduous road back to zero. It's been a tough battle, and I hope I can make it.

Definitely howl-worthy. Did you notice you got 17% of the vote?? Somehow got last place though...hmmmm. Do you think there are a few people out there who may agree with you??

I guess \"mid-season\" is when we'll be able to tell whether Foye is the next Deron Williams or Chris Paul.

Yeah, I know right? Not sure how 17% = last place.... whatevvvvvvvvvvver.

Hahaha yeah, I'm sure Foye will instantly \"morph\" into those guys by \"mid-season.\" Or not. And if I'm right, then what? Is he gonna retroactively go back and give me first....

It's all nice and well that Foye's STATS look like those other guys'. However, isn't it obvious to anyone that watches the NBA that Foye just doesn't have the same type of game and court awareness as say a Chris Paul, Deron Williams, etc? I mean, it's blatantly obvious to me. They are heady young floor generals, that have different and more developed facets of the game than Foye does. Who cares if they have similar stats... they are both more of a PG than Foye will ever be. You can see these things by watching them play and not relying on the \"stats\" so much.

I think you've said this before a few times, but extrapolating stats is just really dumb. There's a reason he's not playing as many minutes as other people. Plain and simple.

Rasho Nesterovic had 14.17 PP48 and 10.28 RP48 last year with the Raptors...I'm sure mad we let him go:huh:

There's a reason he only played 21 minutes a game...he's not that good!

He's not the same as those guys, but why does he have to be in order to be effective at point guard. Your steriotyping point guards even though the majority of them are not in accordance to your steriotype. Deron Williams does not even play like Chris Paul and neither one of them plays like Steve Nash. And Steve Nash doesn't play like Tony Parker. Who is the right kind of point guard in this league??? The point is that he sees the same type of results that they see whether he plays a different game than them or not.

As far as Foye being a floor general, was Williams really that great of a floor general in his rookie year??? Maybe Chris Paul was on a horrible young team in which he could get 36 mpg in his rookie year. You have no case here and you keep going back to the same arguement that he isn't a \"true\" point guard. What is a \"true\" point guard??? Honestly, I think I better stop working with computers because I don't have big glasses and a pocket protector. I obviously cannot be effective in this position unless I fit the steriotype.

I agree that PGs come with all different kinds of assets, like computer programmers, they don't all work the same way. That being said, Foye is not the typical PG because of his skill set is better for a different position. It's like asking you to install Dish Network. Its similar work but it may not necessarily take advantage of all your strengths. The same is true with Foye.

Completely agree. It's Foye's skillset that I have been talking about all along. The fact that his game \"doesn't look like\" those other guys is a minor part of what I'm getting at. I'll stand by the fact that he is better situated to be a SG/Combo Guard rather than a \"pure PG\" until I die (most likely.)

Just because we have NO other legitimate PG candidates on our roster, and thusly are forcing Foye to play PG, doesn't actually make him a PG....

I get it, so it's \"pure PG\" or not a point guard. You don't make any sense but we have had this arguement before so I am not going to go into it again.

One last thing though, if his skillset is an indication that he should play sg then why does Billups play pg all of the time? I guess he shouldn't be playing the point either. Also, why is Foye still successful at playing the point and running the show if his skillset doesn't allow him to? And that was with Garnett on the team who always had to have the ball go through him. You don't make any sense and now your backpeddling. It's ok though, I won't hold you accountable for your opinions.

BTW... We had options at PG last year and they kept Foye in that position.

Re:Battle of the Bloggers - Round 3 5 years 9 months ago #720

The battle rages on! I do honestly think we'll have to wait and see on this one. I think by now Withers knows exactly where CW and I stand on Foye and we know pretty much how you feel about him.

I don't know if there's much more we can say about it at the present.

If Foye can develop an outside jumper as consistent as Billups perhaps he has a shot at being as good. Foye played off-guard in college but is generally speaking not tall enough to play that position in the NBA. That's why he is being steered toward PG, \"groomed\" if you will, for that position on the Twolves. I don't think he's naturally talented as a PG but he may work hard enough to develop into one. The PG and SG positions obviously have some cross-over in terms of skills required to excel at either position. Foye is a work in progress and needs to develop the rest of the talents required to succeed at PG.
