My thing is this - what is the point? Make the playoffs and get beaten in the first round? And by the team Ricky, Love and Pek will be at their peak of playing together (2-3 years away) Crawford will most definitely be on the decline (maybe even out.) Crawford isn't part of the log term solution. Its not that I disagree with the thought of trading of Beasley, its that I have a hard time trading away such a young and talented player (who appears to be maturing) for a guy that is past his prime, and at the most will be a flash in the pan quick fix.
There is absolutely zero downside to making the playoffs. Even if we have no chance of getting past the 1st round, it's still extra revenue for the team and excitement for the fans. Who doesn't want to see how the K-Lav & crew fare in playoff basketball? I know I do. We don't have our draft pick this year so there is no reason not to try to make the playoffs.
I'll gladly let the Lakers try to figure out the Beasley enigma for a steady veteran SG like Crawford. Also I think you are confusing Beas "maturing" with the fact that he's coming off the bench and thus facing less talented players.
There is no downside whatsoever to us making the playoffs. NONE. It is a valuable learning experience for our young players.
And we have no first round draft pick, so the more games we win, the better. Obviously making the playoffs would be huge for us in every facet.
