I didnt say KG was a worthless piece. He's extremely good. What I recall of his game as a TWolf was mostly what I saw in the 1st round of playoffs where I guess he underproduced I'd call it. That was my measure of him almost exclusively. Maybe not fair I'll admit. I like Love but I'm not falling all over him. Just sayin with what he did last season and so far this he's worth a 5 yr deal. Toughness on the boards and in the paint I got to say Love over KG. Seems his biggest critics said he could be soft in the paint settling for turn around "J"s. Abd that is what I witnessed. I think since he left Minny he's grown considerably. May have had something to do with Pearce, Ray Allen, Doc Rivers and icons like Bill Russell, Havlicek, Cowans, the list is incredibly long and rich with bball history. That kind of history will make you into a more serious player.

Don't worry. Different takes are good and appreciated...well..maybe not this one ;). People around here tend to overreact and assume if you think ill of a player or criticise him, that you must HATE him. There is no in between. Ever. For example, because College Wolf once wanted to trade Love for JaFail McGee and the 6th pick (I think).... it must mean he HATES Kevin Love. Although, if you are about that trade you just might.

And most of this group is very sensitive about KG. He is the 'girlfriend you haven't gotten over yet after being dumped suddenly 4 years ago' is what I often like to say.

As for the main point of this....speculating at length as to what Kevin Love might FEEL like about a maximum contract offer...we are arguing over nothing. This thread is a Seinfeld episode, mixed with a hint of teen drama.

Tangent: The Wolves are a team filled with guys who you look at and think 'how can he be good?' Love is the main one. I often wonder what people would think of him if he were black, but had the same game. He would be an instant MVP lock in our eyes, methinks.

Nope, the Wolves are still a bad team. We can have that race debate if the Wolves ever get to the playoffs. Valid point, when the time comes.

Right. And Love is the new, really hot girl that you're dating that maybe isn't quite the same but is still a catch. So is it really that bad a thing that we would rather concentrate on the one we have and talk ourselves into her (him)? Dwelling on KG is so Emo.

Besides, as somebody said "and there's a rose in a fisted glove..."

Agreed. It's stale. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take a peek at those old pictures you have saved on your hard drive from time to time! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Gah - we really have to wait a 1.5-2.5 years to discuss this?!?! :(

I hate to play the race card with Love as a negative. That being said, statistically there has been nobody since the primes of KG and Duncan who have been throwing up 25/14 at the PF position, right? If someone of comparable athleticism, say David West, was throwing up 20/15 (or this year 25/14.5) wouldn't we be talking him up too? I don't know if it's more or less because K Love is white. I think there's some tendency both to undervalue and overvalue him because he's different. He's both discredited and under a microscope.

Duncan from 2000-2003 averaged over 12 rpg and over 24 ppg each season.

KG from 2002-2005 averaged over 13 rpg and over 22 ppg each season.

Since 1990, sum total of players who have averaged over 20 ppg and 15 rpg = 1. Kevin Love (2010-11).

Since 1990, sum total of players who have averaged over 15 ppg and 15 rpg = 2. Kevin Willis (1991-92) and Kevin Love (2010-11).

Since 1990, sum total of players who have averaged over 20 ppg and 14 rpg = 2. Dwight Howard (2007-08) and Love (2010-11).

You all know I'm not a stat hawk, but still... All those guys except Willis were candidates for MVP. Just saying, there is that argument.

Klove is the baddest white player and Pek might be the toughest.

blah, blah, the Wolves are going to finish as the 9th, 10, or 11th seed. Until the Wolves are GOOD, those numbers will be under appreciated. Tell Love to make this a playoff team, then we're talking MVP.

DFS, no doubt. I'm not saying he should be the MVP. I'm just saying his numbers are astronomical, stupid statistically. Statistically he's in the same world as Dwight Howard right now, a world that pretty much no one else lives in.

Keep in mind that I am saying statistically. To watch the two of them play, you'd only say that one of them imposes his will upon the game. Say what you will, but when other guys go for 20/20, there is a sort of visceral feeling that they are taking the game over. With Love, it's much less pronounced, not to take anything away from him.

It's not what he does necessarily, but how he does it.

But yes, if he and Rubio lead our team to the playoffs they deserve to split MVP.

Your response each time was to feign innocence and then repeat your original claim that Love is superior to KG. So either you are doing an excellent job of trolling or you are just a bit daft.

Either way, I think the negativity you received from myself and others was warranted. You can't just go around pushing senseless arguments with no evidence to back your assertion and not expect a backlash.

Don't give me the troll line unless you got some good facts to back it up. I find that pretty insulting. That's the MO of wusses over at the other site. I'm a fan and I get jacked just like you seem to be now when you hear someone talkin down a fav player. KLove should get a 5 yr deal because he means just as much to Minny as does Rose to Chicago and Lebron to Miami. Capice !! That's not a senseless arguement. Comparing him to KG in the context I mentioned isn't unreasonable. I admitted I know little about KG game to game stats while he was in Minny. I watched him in the first round playoffs where he appeared to be playing soft and not accepting the role of go to guy. Just my opinion.

If i really have to get the rosters that Garnett played on and the rosters that Kevin Love has played on so far, we would probably admit that the talent of the surrounding players is about the same. Taking that into consideration Garnett got the team to the playoffs, can't say the same about Love. Check mate. End of Credits. Game over.

At this moment of time you're correct of course.

Keep in mind though that KG had Gugliotta who was also an All-Star and Steph Marbury who, while I hate his game, was talented. Love is only 23 and in his 3rd year, has a competent coach for the first time ever, and has a competent guard for the first time ever.

Give him a break, if we make the playoffs this year the discussion belongs back on the table at least as far as who was better at this point in their careers.

That's a fair and reasonable way to table this discussion for now. Plus K-Lav still has a lot of career ahead of him, while KG is heading towards his twilight.

Food for thought regarding whether or not K-Lav is worth a super max 5 year extension or not. Check out parts of this email I got from a very respected NBA mind:
I do not, however, share the love for Love. That's a whole different convo, but he's an excellent complimentary player who has always gone after his own numbers... and has a bad rep around the league for doing it. No defense, and you can't run offense through him because he can't post or draw a double...
