I am wondering if he is going to be traded or will be starting opening day. I had herd he didnt get along with the other guys from Boston, which makes me wonder if he will be traded. I have been disapointed by his ability to get rebounds and well do what a center needs to do. I personally would rather have Theo play starting center. I think we need to get him out of Minn for something , anything. Any thoughts on this sticky situation?

Unless you're openly tanking for a good draft pick, you cannot replace Blount with Ratliff. Theo is absolutely 100% washed-up. He will likely never play another NBA game. Blount, while not the best locker room presence, is still a double-digit averaging center in this league, which is somewhat of a commodity. If we can trade him for something that's of value, I'm all for it as it will probably help chemistry. But this team needs to try and win basketball games. I don't see how abandoning Blount with no returns helps us do that.

The intangibles of that trade would help us more than trying to win a few more games in a rebuilding year.

I think we can all agree that he's easily the worst influence for our youngsters out of anyone, due to his obvious lack of hustle/desire, and poor attitude (aka comments such as his \"got paid\" from last season and others.)

Anyhow, if we could get rid of his attitude that's a huge plus right there. Also, he's got a big salary and if we could dump that for an expiring contract that would also help our cap situation.

I'd give Blount away if a team would actually take him.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

We'd have to get something in return though. If that something was salary relief, that's fine. But you have to get something that helps us. Trading him for do-nothings that make the same amount of money for the same amount of time gets us nowhere. There has to be some positive other than \"he's not on our team anymore\" otherwise I think he's too good to just abandon. I'm not saying he's great, but he does bring some positives.

Gotcha. I would trade him for an expiring contract or a trade exception, but you are correct and I wouldn't just give him away for same length contracts of different junk players.

Doubt we could get a favorable contract in return for Blount. It would definitely have to be a bigger package deal.

I guess everything has already been said on this topic, both by ReROK and College Wolf in this thread and by myself (regarding my opinion on Blount), so I'll keep this short:

~ I agree that Blount's gotta go, because he is not and never will become even an average role model when it coms to nurturing young players, and having him as \"veteran presence\" (especially if Howard was traded, which is far more likely than Blount) in the locker room scares me.

~ Although he does indeed has some talent (which makes his lack of work ethic even more painful), there is probably NO WAY any GM in this league would be stupid enough to take him straight up. And - besides Ricky Davis - I could not thing of any player we have (besides Al Jefferson ;) ) that could entice some other team to take on Blount in a package.

If we somehow got incredibly lucky we could maybe package McCants or Gerald Green with Blount. I'd rather keep GG though. You are right, we are most likely stuck with Blount for quite a while. Very depressing.

Blount just needs to go. There isn't any room for him on this roster.

Agreed. I'd rather have Richard over Blount if we could do a favorable deal in terms of salary to get rid of Blount.
