I suspect tonight and tomorrow will be full of Wolves news and roster transactions. We should see at least 2 formal signings (Roy/Shved) and a trade (Ellington) over the next 24 hours.

At least we'll get some more rumors to boot.

Roy, Shved, Cunningham, Stiesma, Hill and Lee should be the goal to get all wrapped up within the next week.

You know, I never had any particular strong feelings about Portland prior to this, but unless I'm only getting half the story, this whole affair makes them look like petty douchebags.

After screwing us in the Martell deal, you'd think just maybe they'd want to save some face. They can whine about being on the hook for Roy but as someone else pointed out, anyone else could have signed him too. But it seems like we could have offered them anything under the sun for Batum and they would have matched. I almost wish we'd offered him even MORE money since it's obviously not just about retaining a good player for them. They knew they were going to match, so the only reason to wait until the last minute is to make life harder for the Wolves, so I'm going have a hard time not rooting against them in the future.

I can understand wanting to screw some team that's already big and powerful and lucky, but this is like picking on the weakest kid in school whose parents were killed in a freak accident. I'd expect that kind of egocentric dickishness from David Stern, The Worst Commissioner In Sports, but don't you think other teams are going to be wary of dealing with them after seeing the kind of crap they're pulling?

I hope Batum just goes through the motions for them now. I mean, he couldn't have made it more clear that he didn't want to stay. If they thought it was too much, then it really becomes obvious that it was a grudge match more than as a smart move for the team.

Either way, if there is a God, he sure is not a T-Wolves fan.

Screw Portland. Those games I'm looking forward to the most next season. I'm out for blood

Howl to you Croc!
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

well they officially matched the deal (saw this on nba.com). so its over. might as well shut this thread down.

it sucks that we never get our guy. we actually had a talented, healthy young stud that WANTED to play for us, and we couldnt get him......sucks.

oh well, we move on.......at least we made portland stretch their pockets a bit more then they wanted

I agree, it does suck. Yes, we were slightly overpaying, but he's a young potential stud, which is what you are paying for.

Plus he's a great wing defender, which we so sorely (STILL) need...

Time for Kahn to earn that lowest-paid-GM-in-the-league paycheck. Yippee... this should be good.

Yeah Croc, word. Portland's new GM seems like a huge d-bag. Did you see all the stuff he said yesterday, claiming Batum talked to him off the record behind his agent's back, telling him he never said those things and he wanted to stay all along? That has spin written all over it. This Portland GM (not even worth saying or trying to spell his name) is a huge d-bag. Kahn West to the 3rd power.

Yeah- and he also burned all his exceptions and managed to both piss off and overpay a player that now he can't afford to trade (15% trade kicker!) and that is not going to push their shytty team over the top. Oh yeah, they fired their coach and Olshey has about a year til he's fired.

What a sh*t show.
