Anyone that is STILL knocking on the Scola non-signing can now just shut the hell up:
Jordan Hill agreed to a two-year, nearly $8 million deal with the Lakers on Friday.

Hill doesn't have a clear path to fantasy value unless Pau Gasol gets traded, but he'll provide solid depth for the Lakers in their frontcourt.
That is just absurd. Freakin Jordan Hill?!? The same money per year for him as Scola? Wow, depressing.

Oh, and this. Great offseason. Get ready for the huuuuuge Dom McGuire free agent signing! :S :???
@JerryZgoda: Agent Mark Bartelstein, who represents both Brandon Rush and Dominic McGuire, expects to speak again with David Kahn over the weekend.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

This is an absolute disaster... I wonder if panic mode is setting in on Kahn...All this cap space and he can't sign one damn person to play here other than a guy that hasn't played ball in over a year and a Russian dude that nobody knows whether he'll be good or not...It's time to make an impact trade, damn the costs. If they want to use the Summer League guys for bigs and sign Stiesma who also has another deal on the table, screw it, fine...Time to to use money and assets to get either Deng/Gay/Chandler/Iggy

Nothing is happening. Plan A is plan B-Z is save money for Taylor.

Dude, you understand he's trying to sell the team so this is the one time he is willing to spend? This offseason was the first in ages that wasn't about saving Glen's money, that's what makes it absurd. I hope we go after Brandon Rush with crazy money like $7-8M/year. That would be fine by me, he's a shooter.

Well, now that would be absurd to give him that much money. Weird you don't like a lot of the other moves this offseason, but you'd give Rush (of all people) that much money???

Rush is solid, and I'd like him, but no way he's worth anywhere near that. It would probably take that much money for the Warriors to not match the offer (since they already said they would match any offer)... but that's Kahn's fault for waiting so long to get a legitimate SF here. Rush is the best free agent left. But that doesn't mean that you grossly overpay him.

No. I don't think he's worth that much.

I just think that at this point in the offseason we need to make a move.

In retrospect, signing OJ Mayo for a reasonable salary would have been better, or chasing Iguodala. I was okay with the Batum move but it's tough to see Courtney Lee whiffed on after that.

Roy is a good closer. Shved is probably a solid energy guy, and Buddinger is a decent bench guy. We are missing at least one major minutes guy at the 2/3.

If we need to overpay for a 2 yr deal to get it done so be it.

I love Rush. Put me on record as offering him a Beasley contract and predicting he will be as good as Batum in the next few years (or could be, I guess I shouldn't say that, as Batum will now be like option B in Portland, where Rush won't be). But my point is IMO people are sleeping on Rush, and I feel he would be a great fit on this team (can play the 3, shooter, defender, versitile, young).

Not that this makes me not want him, but Rush is quietly kind of old. He is 27 years old. Batum is 23. I have a hard time believing the career trajectory of Rush will somehow surpass Batum at this point...

Ronnie Brewer will be the guy. Rush can only probably be had in a S+T. I wonder if Golden State would take Barea for Rush in a sign and trade?

Woah that is way too much money for Brandon Rush. Those are the kind of signings that cripple your cap flexibility. According to some statistical measure or another, Rush was one of the worst starters in the league like 2 years running when he was still with the Pacers.

Rush is a 3-5 million per year player, which makes him a hard one to get without a trade agreement.

The reality is the remaining free agents don't have the leverage to hold out for a big contract. Most of the big money has been spent. Teams won't dare spend that amount of money on Rush, especially Kahn/Taylor. OJ Mayo and Courtney Lee each got less than $5 million for chrissakes.

I like Rush because he is a good defender AND can shoot it. More balanced game. Brewer is sort of a one-trick pony. But again, for the record, Brewer would be a pretty good addition to this team, just not an exciting one.

No doubt, that's what I was saying.

Plus it's almost (but not always, admittedly) impossible for someone at that age to get much better than they already are.

Brewer is as "blah" as it gets, imo. He's above-average at defense, and that's literally all he brings.

I'd take Rush over Brewer every day, but I also would never give Rush more than $5 million per year. Not even close. Heck, I'd offer about like $12-13 million over 3 years and that's about it.

This terrible conundrum of us debating tier 3 additions to the team is all Kahn's fault anyways. Go figure. :S
