I don't think there's a chance the Bulls budge without a s&t for Pek in place (going to the Bulls, obviously). Teams do not allow to get raped in trades that often.

If we could somehow legitimately trade for either Noah or Varejao, you take Noah and don't look back. It's not rocket science. Dude is a legit Center and a huge defense stud. And he's not bad offensively at all.

I would absolutely LOVE Noah playing with K-Lav and Pek. That would be the best front line in the entire NBA, easily.

Strongly agree. Total pipedream, maybe, but it's perhaps the most skilled front court in the league.

In wolfenstein's defense:
1. Chicago matched Omer He-She's contract because of the 3rd year poison pill. That had nothing to do with Noah's future, and everything to do with Morey being a 'tard. Asik is getting 15 MILLION HIS THIRD YEAR which is so monumentally absurd I don't know where to begin. Daryl Morey is the most overrated GM in the league (and it's just because Bill Simmons likes him personally).

2. With Rose out all year and likely never returning to his old form, Chicago could be due for a mini-rebuild to shed some money. A smart front office would try to tank it this year and hope Rose comes back at least 80% for 2013-2014. Shed some payroll if you can. The old Bulls are done as quickly as they arrived. Too bad, they were a fun team to watch.

Good thoughts.

That Asik contract is absurd. And wow, Morey sucks balls. What the hell happened to him?!? He went bat-shit crazy.

Yeah, the Bulls could/should pull a Spurs with Robinson and see what happens. They don't necessarily need to tank the entire season, but they could get a lottery pick if they keep Rose out and let him get 100% healthy. Then they buyout Boozer and trade us JoNo (:)) and who knows... that would clear a ton of cap space for them when Rose comes back. They are not in a good financial situation as things stand right now.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Yep, 25 over 3 for a center who just averaged UNDER 3ppg and UNDER 4rpg is not absurd. It's just out-of-this-universe-someone-shoot-me-in-the-head ridiculous. Morey went nuts with those poison pills and Houston will suffer in 2 years. They will burn, paying Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik 15 million each.

This thing is called "poison pill" for a reason Daryl. It is directed at the team which enbds up with the contract, not the one losing the player.

I get Lin's to an extent, but Omer He-She? Nuts. Just sign Ian Mahinmi.

Chances are Morey asked Donnie Nelson for advice.

"Daryl my man, whenever you have a 7 footer who is able to walk properly for 2 straight seconds you give him the full MLE. Skills? F**K skills!"

Somehwere in Charlotte DeSagana Diop laughs...

Yeah, between Noah, Deng, Boozer, Rose, and Asik, Chicago would have been paying like $75M for 5 players before lux tax in that 3rd year, which cripples the ability to add anyone else of consequence. If Chicago wasn't going to win the EC before Rose went down (they weren't), it doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to play the next 3 years with the same squad. Plus the lux tax is dollar for dollar and gets worse if it's repeat offender.

Boozer for $15M/yr is an absolute franchise hanger to a team where he is maybe, maybe the 3rd best player. If you have to shed an adequately paid player to ditch Boozer's albatross contract, you would have to consider it, I would think.

Noah + Pek + Love is among the best 4-5 rotations in the league, with probably New York (if you consider Melo a 4) and LAL (Gasol and Bynum plus any live body is a pretty decent rotation).

It's not happening, but it's not insane from Chicago's perspective, and I don't know that it is all that crazy from Cleveland's perspective either (?). Oh, if I were king...

Also, Pants- (from my perspective) Noah is much, much better than Varejao. More durable. Better defender (especially help side). Better leader. Fits well next to both Love and Pek. Noah is a winner, like Rubio. Good guy to have on your team. Varejao... would be a decent add, but is a good role player. Noah is like a +++role player.

My opinion.

If you trade for Noah, then you are saying this is the last year of Peko. Noah is a much, much, much bigger commitment.

Varejao - 8.5, 9.1, TO-9.8
Noah - 11, 12.1, 13.1,14.2

Given the rules around paying the tax in multiple years in a row you can imagine after a really good season Glen would go big once knowing he can back off the next year. With Noah you can't back off you have to move another big contract to get under.

Plus I disagree about the disparity between players and if you don't start Noah I don't think he'd be a positive force.

Also, preemptively I want to note that Rose was very good this year- they could have won the EC with a healthy Rose- except for LeBron this year. I'm not a LeBron fan (not since he joined "South Beach Academy") but he was dominant this year. No other teams were going to win the EC. Period. So I think Chicago has to do something, especially now that Rose is out.
