He is just having an arthoscopy which is just putting a small camera in his knee to check things out. No repairing (as he has nothing to repair of course). Just a diagnostic procedure with minimal recovery time. So, until the surgery is done this week, we can only speculate.

True. it's a tough revisionist history thing to address. Personally, I was all about adding Roy. Some here were more realistic/accurate and kudos to those folks for staying rational. I don't think it is entirely fair to MURDER Kahn over it, but it is an unfortunate setback. it's as if we are already looking to starting the 2012-2014 season with a healthy roster.

FWIW....it sounds like Roy wants to retire again. Him and Kahn "talked Friday" and the tone from those "in the know" is not good. At all. My speculation is that Kahn is trying to steer him into giving it another shot. Whether this is good of Kahn to do or bad of Kahn to do, I suspect we will find out more this evening after the surgery.

By the way....Roy's second year is incentive based and is not option-based which is why it isnt listed as an option on sites. Here are the stipulations. Found it on RubeChat so I'm not sure the original source:

The 28-year-old will have to play more than 1400 minutes or be active for 65 or more games to ensure that his contract is guaranteed for the 2013/14 season. Those criteria are still within reach, though this setback means it will be an uphill battle to achieve them.
