Anyone else watch the 2 hour premiere of Alcatraz? It was ok. At least... it was WAY better than "Terra Nova", so it's got that going for it.

I just don't understand how the young woman cop just simply accepts the time-traveling Alcatraz prisoners and doesn't question anything whatsoever that Sam Neill is telling her to do. I mean... SERIOUSLY we are supposed to believe this?!?

At least her fat partner guy rocks and has a lot more common sense.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

I thought it would be different. Basically all it is is they are going to capture a new inmate every episode and it's all loosely held together by the main plot. I don't really watch these kind of shows anymore. Also the writing is really horrible but I think that is standard for Fox shows and I wasn't expecting too much better.

I did get a good laugh though in the pilot episode Jack what's his name is leaving Alcatraz and they make him show his ticket before he can get on the ferry. REALLY!?!? How would he have gotten on the island in the first place if he didn't buy a ticket

Yeah, I hear ya there. Unless those kind of shoes are really well done, then they usually end up being pretty lame.

I might just watch another episode or two... I dunno.

I plan on watching soon. I was very excited about this, but that excitement subsided a bit when I found out it wasn't serialized and instead follows an episodic formula, kind of like Fringe (as you guys said).

Also excited for the new Kiefer Sutherland series, Touch, and that show The River about the Amazon expedition that has a 'found footage' concept.

Yeah, I'll probably check out both those shows as well.

Alcatraz was definitely disappointing the more I think about it. Still, I'll give it a little time yet before stopping completely. Thank goodness for DVR being able to watch a show whenever you want (and commercial skipping!)

The River looks interesting. I've never heard of Touch.

I can't even lie, I can't watch anything since the Wire. What's the point? I'm just not intrigued in the plot of anything. I tried Breaking Bad and I thought the show was good, the main actor especially. I just didn't care about the plot. This Alcatraz show...eh. I can't get excited. I don't have a clue what to watch. I just fold laundry and eat meals in silence now or read instead.

You would probably enjoy "Justified." Plus it just started Season 3, so not much to do to catch up.

I thought you watch Game of Thrones?

You need to check out Justified and Homeland.

For sure, but Game of Thrones isn't on again yet. Once it's back on I'll be watching that.

The second episode of "Alcatraz" was decent. Still, I don't like the premise of the show with the one new plotline per episode type production. It's like CSI, but with some mystery on an island. Kinda lame.

Is there an overarching story yet? I read that there will be that element to it.

Oh yeah, there is totally an overarching story. The problem is they don't explore it or mention it enough each episode. It's there, but each episode is still formulaic with the new plot/bad guy each time.
