Benny the Bull is innocent: Chicago officials
Benny the Bull is innocent, according to a Chicago Bulls official who denies the mascot hit Boston Celtics players Kevin Garnett and James Posey with T-shirts hot out of a T-shirt cannon.
The incident occurred Tuesday during the fourth quarter of the Celtics' 106-92 win over the Bulls at the United Center. According to a report in the Boston Globe, the Chicago mascot shot T-shirts out of a gun that hit the two players who were on the way to the bench.
Garnett and Posey reportedly gave Benny the Bull a glare and, said Garnett, \"exchanged words.\"
But, on Wednesday, Bulls officials say that the incident was a result of an accident by its promotional team. One of the members fell down as it was shooting T-shirts into the crowd. The shirts were then launched in the direction of the Celtics bench.
Bulls representatives said they have watched the incident over video to make sure. They also said members involved apologized shortly after and the shirts “skipped” before hitting the players.
Benny the Bull was unavailable to comment, the Boston Globe reports. That's because he's a mascot and can't talk.
