TOPIC: Biggest Ball hogs

Biggest Ball hogs 5 years 2 months ago #10184

I was watching the Nuggets game I believe on Wed and the Mavs/Celtics game last night and I was scratching my head and trying to figure out who was the bigger ball hog Carmelo Anthony or Josh Howard...

I mean these guys just about EVERY TIME take a wild shot when they have Dirk and AI on their respective teams, which I believe are better players game in and game out.

So I guess the I throw the topic out there asking who in your opinion is the biggest ball hog in the NBA...(Not just limited to Howard or Mello)

Craig Smith. (I kid, I kid) Smith is a ballhog though, but not epic caliber. A few names that come to mind....

Zach Randolph
Stephon Marbury
Gilbert Arenas

McCants and Craig Smith are definitely the two biggest on the Wolves.

Ummmmm Melo and AI both are.

Even though Nash gets a lot of assists he still is.

Paul Pierce holds the ball a lot and does a lot of one on one iso's. I think that will subside with the emergence of Rondo and Cassell getting more familiar with the team.

Jamal Crawford.

Cuttino Mobley. I couldn't believe the shots he was taking that last Wolves-Clippers game... wow.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Just for fun, I tried to statistically answer this question. I sorted last years stats by lowest FG%, and looked for all the guys who attempted over 1,000 shots... Using those variables, the biggest ballhogs in the NBA (in order)last year were:

Rafer Alston
Raymond Felton
Mike Bibby
Gilbert Arenas
Tracy McGrady
Jermaine O'Neil
Ron Artest
Allen Iverson
Mo Williams
Kirk Hinrich
Antawn Jamison

Those were all of the guys whom both took over 1,000 shots last year, and shot under 45%...(in order by low FG%)

Nice work...

Surprising to see Alston on there with some of those other guys. Also, I never would have guessed Jamison or Artest.

I have been away for awhile...so I forgot about this topic...

Very nice work man...I am shocked that Mello is not on there...I did forget about McCants as well..There was a game a week or so ago when the Wolves had a 4 - 1 break and McCants was brining the ball up and stopped and popped and missed....LOL
