The MVP doesn't go to the player you want taking the last shot. It doesn't go to the player whose team would suffer the most if he left. I don't believe Cleveland has been successful enough this year to warrant giving it to Lebron even though they would suffer the most if he left. Nash won it 2 years in a row not because he was the guy who took the last shots but rather of how he enabled his team to win.

And your choice would be???

I did pick Kobe earlier when they were unstoppable but now I don't know. I really don't know if KG is THE reason the Celts are where they are at although he defininitly one on the reasons. I guess that leaves Paul doesn't it? I don't think I'll vote.

Lebron single-handedly destroy the Pistons last year in the playoffs? Not see it?

Also everyone says KG shouldn't win it because the players around him are so valuable to the team as well. That same theory should apply to Kobe, he wasn't even on the MVP radar before the Gasol trade. Then when Pau got hurt, the Lakers slipped back into mediocrity. Therefore, their MVP award should go to Pau, right?

I would have said Lebron, but they suck lately, I'm voting for Chris Paul

That is revisionist Kobe history...People thought Bynum and Kobe were a great 1-2 punch and Gasol added was just shall we say insurance...There is not a player in the league in the last 10 years that can take over a game like Kobe...King James is a close second...

It seems that people don't like winners...they hate Kobe...they hate the Spurs...think all they do is whine and flop...but all the history books will show Kobe winning rings and scoring titles not too mention the following courtesy of:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_bryant

Awards and achievements
3-time NBA champion: 2000, 2001, 2002
2-time scoring leader: 2006, 2007
10-time NBA All-Star: 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
Has started in each of his appearances
10 consecutive appearances (No All-Star game in 1999 due to league-wide lock-out)
2-time NBA All-Star Game MVP: 2002, 2007
9-time All-NBA Selection:
First Team: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007
Second Team: 2000, 2001
Third Team: 1999, 2005
7-time All-Defensive Selection:
First Team: 2000, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007
Second Team: 2001, 2002

It is a travisty that he has not won the MVP...and KG, Dirk and Nash have...that is laughable

It's not a lifetime achievement award for the umpteenth time. Kobe *should* have won it two years ago when he averaged 35 ppg and single handidly got the Lakers into the playoffs. But he shouldn't win it this season. His team is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than it was then, and CP3 and KG are more deserving... THIS YEAR. That is all.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Yes, by posting his achievements you've shown exactly why he shouldn't win it this year. If you look at this year and this year alone, CP3 is way more deserving.

CP3 is winning AND has the statistics. His team has the best record in the West and he's having one of the greatest statistical seasons by a point guard, ever.

Kobe is winning...and has won and will continue to win...and still has a chance to win the Western Conference...so based upon if the Laker's win the Western Conference Kobe wins the MVP...

So the criteria for you is that your team has to have the best record??? Well let's look at the numbers:

Kobe is averaging 28.6 ppg 6.4 rpg 5.4 apg
Paul is averaging 21.5 ppg 4.0 rpg 11.5 apg

The Lakers are 1 1/2 games out of first place in the west with 5 games left including one against the Hornets...

Kobe is double teamed and will always draw the best defender from every team...teams scheme \"How can we stop Kobe Bryant\" Not too mention Kobe getting to the Free Throw line each and every night...

Paul is a PG so he naturally will not always draw the best defender each night...plus having West and Chandler down low running alley oops and fade aways bloat Paul's numbers on the assist...

When people look back at this generation of players much like the 80's /90's they say was Jordan's era...they will look at the late 90's to the mid 2000's and the first name that many people will remember is Kobe Bryant...

I never said winning the West = MVP. However, winning is obviously something taken into consideration by the voters.

Kobe is having a pretty good season on a loaded team.

CP3 is having one of the best seasons by a PG (EVER!!!) on a team that is not as talented overall as the Lakers.

It boggles my mind that you are still making the argument that Kobe should win this year based on what he's done in the past. I'm done with this topic.

Anyone who has been nearly beat up several times can't win the award. Childs, Reggie, and Ray Allen (to name a few), have made Kobe tear up.

With all due respect maybe yours and others judgement is being clouded possibly by the past antics of Kobe on and off the court thus denying Kobe the MVP this year and past years...

And you did make it seem clear that MVP = winning the west a couple of posts back when you said,

No, that's you jumping to conclusions. I merely pointed out that his team A. Wins and B. He's got the statistics to back it up.
