Many people are saying that a lockout is inevitable for the 2011-2012 season. What impact will it have on the NBA, players, fans.. and in general, America? Also, if there is a lockout, who would be to blame?

If there is a lockout, I'd blame Brad Bornhorst.

Also, I would start watching Curling and take up a new hobby. Like knitting.

This will hurt the NBA a lot. Not only will they lose money from not having games, they will lose the interest of a lot of casual fans. A lot of people will just see these players and owners as greedy people who are only looking out for themselves and not the interest of the fans. It will take a while to get that interest up again. This is what happen in the 98 99 lockout and it will happen again if a lockout happen this year again.

Who do you blame?? I think you have to blame both parties. The owners and players. There are a lot of NBA players with big contracts that are not worth those contracts which handicap an organization from making more money because they do not draw the fans and they limit the organization from getting better players to draw the fans. But at the same time you have to blame these owners for making stupid decisions by giving out stupid contracts to stupid players. So, now the owners have to cover their a$$.

Honestly, I don't care if there is a lockout because not just the NBA but in pro sports in general, there are a lot of people who don't deserve to make the millions that they do, while average joes like us bust our butts just to make a decent living. I just want the NBA to come an agreement for the fact that it will bring Ricky Rubio over, other than that I could care less.

Id be very upset if they didnt have a season....11 wins or not the NBA pretty much carries me through winter. NFL is ok, but I cant get into following it nearly as close as the NBA. I'd rather watch a Sex in the City Marathon for 8 hours than watch a baseball or hockey game.

I blame the owners and the agents. The players merely followed a trend and I dont blame them for maximizing their own potential values. Normal people do that all the time, hunting for jobs. If someone offered you a lower paying job and you knew you could get more wouldnt you fight for it or take a higher paying offer elsewhere? It's life. Clueless owners let it spiral out of control, and agents pushed the envelope too far for personal gain.

Yeah it's definitely more the owner's fault than the players. For sure. I mean, how many people in this world can do what these guys in the NBA do? Like 0.0001% Not many. There is a reason they get paid that much (although like 9Duece I can't say I entirely agree.) Anyways, so the Owners screwed up because they can't control their spending, and now they want to be bailed out of all their past failures? Why? Asking the players to cut 33% of total revenues is absurd, which is what they wanted. I could see something like 10% with concessions from the owners as well, but let's be real here.

Blame the owners.

If there is a lockout the world will keep spinning and nobody will hardly notice that the NBA is even gone.

Since Glen Taylor is the chairman of the Board of Governors for the NBA he needs to stop it from happening because we need Ricky Rubio.

All these pending lockouts may mean it is a good time to end professional sports in general. We as fans can re-purpose all out time here on scientific advancements.

Go USA Economy!!!

I can envision a lot of players... (especially superstars like LeBron, Kobe and Durant) trying to expand their brand by expanding to Europe. This could end ugly for the NBA!

Not entirely sure that would be possible...

Can NBA Players Head Overseas During Lockout?

If there is a lock-out, then when they figure out their deal lets just have a fantasy draft. Every team gets to lock in one guy who nobody can draft and then just have a live random lottery show with each team having 1 ball with their logo in their and whose ever ball comes out they get to pick. Guarantee you Owners and Players would get a CBA figured out before that happens
