I traditionally hold the philosophy that those in charge are in charge for a reason, and although armchair GM/coaches like ourselves may think we could do better, almost without fail in reality we could not.

But now I am starting to reconsider that stance, especially when it comes to GM'ing. Seriously, I feel like the cap/contract guru's on here (I'm not one of them) see and know things that KAHNman may not as he is too embedded in his own strategery/ego and possibly surrounded by yes-men and few competent assistants.

I am not joking when I say it would be extremely beneficial to a new GM to hire an assistant like one of you cap/contract/NBA rubes/gurus to follow through on his due dilegence, pay attention to all rumors regarding other teams/players, and offer suggestions and ideas.

I am getting f*****g frustrated with this. 5 years of teasing and counting, and recordwise we are as bad as EVER. I'm so sick of hollow promises and false hopes.

By the way, it's neither here nor there, but I actually typed up a letter and resume' of mine and hand-delivered it to Glen Taylor in the tunnel after a game, suggesting that he hire me to do just that in March of 2009. When I handed it to him he just stared at me like "what are you giving me?!" as I shook his hand and told him to just "please read my letter and get back to me".

Based on the look he gave me, I think he assumed it was hate mail. To his credit, I did receive a personalized and hand-signed letter in the mail a few weeks later from him explaining that he could not even consider it at that time because they were going to hire a new GM, but he would give the new GM my info/idea. Obviously it never went anywhere after that.
