True. Gotchya. Studies show we are on the same page. People will spend the extra money, or find the money when the team is doing well. But ebbs and flows obviously prevent 4 blockbuster franchises in fixed time periods.

In hindsight, it makes the idea of the Wolves rebuilding for so long all the more painful. A smart GM/owner with foresight would have recognized the Wolves' need to add vets and win now at the expense of long term "youth" movement nonesense, especially in light of the Vikes playoff run in 2009/Favre + Vikes actually having loyal fans, the new Twin Stadium, Tubby Smith's hiring which pretty much shot Gopher bball into the limelight before he started sucking, a new Gopher Football stadium, the Wild drawing a crowd, Gopher hockey successes...etc.

It's no wonder the Wolves can't sell a ticket. Enough rebuilding.
Heck the Wolves almost cant afford to keep their pick this year and add another infant to the mix. We need to trade for some winning vets in the worst way.

Definitely concur. Very good (and sad) points.

Studies show you guys are both out of your mind.

As you both touched on, Sacto is the only pro team in that city. That is what would be most sad about it to me. Those cities that only have 1 pro team have a special bond to them. Studies show taking away the only professional team that a city has is cold hearted and Un-American.

And to move it to ANAHEIM, when LA already has TWO pro teams?!? F That.

At least Sacramento is barely over an hour away from the home of the Warriors at least, I guess...

Still, this sucks. Who is for this idea? Anyone? $tern needs to step in. Of course he won't if the result will help the bottom dollar.

Word dude. Very well said. Especially about it being un-american and moving to Anaheim where there are already 2 teams. So weak and disgusting.

One day 2 or 3 years ago on KFAN during the PA show one of the secondary guys is like... "[manager x] just left and won't be in his car. Lets talk Wolves for like 10 minutes while we won't get in trouble". He said it in a joking way but clearly he meant it too.

And yes, when I say I follow the Wolves the normal reaction is the same as if I said my hobby is developing a polymorphic matrix of poziphonic particles and it's affect on marmoset polypeptides. It isn't so much ridicule as confusion. Then the person turns away slowly.

You guys seem surprised that the Wolves don't get that much support from fans/media etc. First, the NBA and NHL directly compete against each other. With Minnesota being the state of hockey and all, well let's just say Hockey 1 Basketball 0. The major thing though is that the Wolves have been a joke for nearly all of the years of their existence. I do not blame people for not wanting to invest time/energy/money into a team with a losing culture.

Rh - The team was very well supported for a long time during the Garnett era and previously. Fans started turning against McHale around 1999-2001 when he stopped making any moves. After Brandon/Wally came aboard we kicked major ass during the year but still lost in the 1st round of the playoffs a few more times. This was right when the Wild expanded here, btw.

Fans really hated McHale around 02-03, but still went to games. Then he got Sammy and Spree and the bandwagon started. After that, the team stopped making the playoffs even with Garnett on the team and it all went downhill from there never to return.

If the Wolves start winning again, they will be supported.

When the Wolves are winning..there were a lot of talk on KFAN on the Wolves. But..we do suck so bad, I could see why they wouldn't want to talk about the Wolves. It's all about sponsorship. You have to give the fans and the sponsors what they want so they will support your radio station.

Let's be honest. The Wolves had 1 successful season out 22 or whatever. Setting records for consecutive 1st round exits with one of the Top 5 players in the nBA is not success. The fact that people were filling up the TC during that whole time should encourage you, instead you guys are making it seem unfair that the fans/media don't want to talk about a team that has been rebuilding for 5 years and is even more terrible than when they started. Not to mention even casual fans know that Kahn is an idiot and extremely unlikable, Glen Taylor is a clueless clown, and Rambis' "coaching" doesn't make any sense.

There is nothing wrong with being a fairweather fan. These people simply have other interests and responsibilities that are a higher priority in their life. I don't know why they are talked about with disdain. Basketball is just a game after all, nobody needs to live and die with every little thing the team does unless that is what you are interested in.

Yeah, either confusion or empathy. I get a lot of empathetic responses from people that find out I follow the TWolves.

I am not surprised. I explained why in my previous posts. And yes, it doesn't help that the Wolves are in the State of Hockey.

RH - Yeah no one is surprised. Why would the general fan sit through a 5 year rebuild. No, of course that's a fail and numbnuts McTaylor should have recognized that and acquired vets vs. infants years ago. Why is it that rebuilding teams insist on staying young for so long? What good does that do unless ou are OKC?

I was, and continue to be, perplexed by what happened at the Boston game. That was just weird. I then ask myself, is that what KG would want? Probably not. I think he would want people to move on.

I would blame $tern and the NBA more than fans. Other than Celtics, Lakers, Bulls, Knicks they promote & market individual players instead of teams.

The duo said they would lead a group that could purchase the Kings – or buy another team for the city should the Kings move to Anaheim.

Hopefully this gives the other owners enough reason to deny the move.

Oh wow... that would be fantastic. Let's hope it happens. It's really just very sad that the Kings might move out of Sacramento. :(
