Just from some interview a while back when he was talking about all-stars and the AS game. And I don't believe he specifically said: "I am better than Zach Randolph",
but you could just tell by the way he was talking that he thought he was better. {/quote]
I don't think I have to really say any more at this point.
The most interesting development about this whole thing is that paying Gasol becomes almost untenable with Gay and Randolph both on max contracts.
The Memphis thing is the Milwaukee thing all over again, or Detroit, etc. Why sign Lebron and Wade when you could sign Corey Maggette, John Salmons, and Michael Redd? Or "better" yet, Tayshaun Prince, Charlie Villanueva, and Richard Hamilton?
Memphis has more money committed to Gay and Randolph than either of those 2 teams have to any 2 guys. They are paying Gay and Randolph like they are Amare and Carmelo. Ridiculous.
Best yet, it sets Randolph up for his second (or is it 3rd?) round of being traded only for his massive expiring contract. It is possible that this will become a valuable commodity in the future post-CBA years as no one will be able to unload awful contracts for expirings like his... Or maybe it was just stupid.
Here's hoping that the Grizzlies trade us Gasol for Darko and Utah's #1 this year in an effort to get some return for him rather than lose him in free-agency. I bet MG and Ricky are tight.
