So now let's discuss who is the most overrated player and why?

Underrated- Pau Gasol.. Ive watched this kid since day one. I knew he was gunanbe a star.. He has it all grace(ie. good atitude ect), skills n knowledge. He is finally on a team now where he can shine

overrated==C-melo livin in colorado it all about him when it comes to b-ball. I am sorry but i just dont see it, what i hear is he is an arogant pompas person and if you ask me a very overrated player..

Most Overrated: Vince Carter - I can't believe that contract he just signed. He's definitely on the downside of his career.


Most Underrated: Lots of guys here - Monta Ellis, Kevin Martin (somewhat), RYAN GOMES (lol love him), Rajon Rondo, David West until he got invited to the All-Star game this season, David Lee (somewhat)

Gomes is great:) I hope we keep him n play him more...

Most overrated: CW got right to the point there with Vince Carter. But since I don't want to just repeat him I am still standing to my opinion that Shawn Marion, no matter if he considers himself the most underrated player, in reality is one of the most overrated ones. Sure, he'll defend and grab some boards, but he just can't get his own shot and besides being freakishly he soe not posess any real skill that would make him special. He had a solid first game in Miami I think, but time will show how much of his effectiveness he owed to Nash brilliance and the Sun's running game.

Most underrated: I really love Ime Udoka and I think the Spurs got a steal in him. He basically is a younger Bruce Bowen with more talent. But there are plenty of others as CW has rightfully mentioned some.

Overrated-
Vince Carter
I have never been a big fan of Vinsanity (spelled wrong I think) All flash but very little substance...The only thing that makes him ok is that he once gave up his All Star spot to Jordan back in 2003

T-Mac
Again another player who graces Sportscenter with some flashy dunk or something but when push comes to shove...he seems to fail miserablly in the playoffs...

Has never gotten the ture respect that he deserves as the \"one who lived in Shaq's shadow\"...It is time to give Kobe the props he deserves...

I'll go Joe Johnson for overrated. The guy bolted on Phoenix and he's posting an average 15 PER for Atlanta while being the go-to guy. He has an eFG% of only 45% and he's just not worth the money he's being paid ($14 mil/year). I'd put Gilbert Arenas at a close 2nd.

I'm going to go with Hedu Turkoglu for most underrated. When Orlando maxed out Lewis a lot of people thought he'd be left in the dust, but he's really proved to be a big threat for that team; perfectly complimenting Howard's inside game and giving them big shots in the clutch. He shoots lights out and has size. A very valuable player. I'll put Devin Harris in the 2nd spot. He's a great young point and if it weren't for him getting burned by Baron Davis in the 1st round last year, I think people would think about him in a bit higher regard. When he was out of the Mavs' lineup, they really struggled.

Good choice stopnpop. What I really love about Joe Johnson, is that he left Phoenix and Steve Nash behind so he could become \"The Man\" in Atlanta, but is now complaining that he does not have enough talent around him to get the Hawks anywhere...

One reality check coming right up! YOU were supposed to be that talent, idiot ! That's what you get when you leave a system tailor made for your skills just becuase someone else offers a few dollars more. What a moron...

Overrated - This season - DWAYNE WADE.

Underrated - Gerald Wallace, though he's starting to get some media love this season.

Underrated - Deron Williams. What's not to love? This year, for example, he is shooting 51.4% from the field. As a point guard! Remember when Sam Cassell shot like 48 or 49% from the field as a point guard during the 03-04 season and we were all going apesh!t talking about how underrated he was?!? Deron is also shooting > 40% from 3-Pt land, and top 5 in the L w/ 9.7 assists per game. He is the floor leader and 2nd highest scorer on one of the best & most efficient teams in the league. He is a good defender, and has a strong, quick NBA body. He has also proven already in his short career that he can come up clutch in big situations and in the playoffs. The man deserves his due.

As far as overrated, I have a few half-hearted answers, but I feel like I must be missing somebody. I'll get back to you.

I'm dissappointed that a few people answered Vince for most overrated. That is just such an easy answer because everyone knows he's overrated. It is to the point where I don't think he's overrated anymore, he has gone down a notch and is now generally accepted as a good player, not a superstar.

Overrated: Gotta go with Tony Parker. Although I completely hate Manu, he is finally showing erveryone this year that he has been the 2nd best player on the spurs all along..Him and Duncan along with the rest of their cast make Tony look really good. Honorable mention: The New A.I. Iguodala. 76ers try to sell him to their fans as the next big superstar, when in reality he'll never be able to carry a team by himself. but a nice 2nd option player who can pass and rebound.

Underrated: Definately Rip Hamilton. He's so good. Everyone just assumes the Pistons have some really good players but no superstars. maybe they have some superstars that have just completely bought into team ball...

Overrated on the court: Horry. He's never done much besides hit a handful of big shots. He's a liability much of the time.
