Aloha! This is a little remembrance I thought I would share with all of you:

I forget what year it was - and I'm not going to bother looking it up right now -

but, it's Bulls at Lakers.

The opposing centers are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Artis Gilmore.

Gilmore was one of the very few who could body-up on Kareem. They were very close in height and Gilmore was like a taller Karl Malone.

We had seats behind the western goal - only about a third of the way up. Actually, we were about eye level with the top of the board.

The Bulls were hacking Kareem on every play. Mercilessly.

You could see the frustration in Kareem's actions and postures.

(This is after Kareem started wearing goggles.)

On a pass into Kareem, Artis came down hard on both forearms, knocking the ball away - NO call!

Kareem was incensed!

He ripped his goggles off and flung them down hard on the floor! They slid all the way past mid-court, almost to the Laker bench.

The ball had gone downcourt - Kareem still near the Laker basket - screaming at the officials. The Lakers get the ball back and head back toward their basket.

Kareem stations himself in the key, raises his long arm and starts screaming for the ball. Gilmore is on his back. A Laker guard lobs the ball into Abdul-Jabbar . . . as he catches it, one-handedly . . . Gilmore back-peddles as fast as he possibly can - completely off the court . . . . Kareem turns . . . pounds the ball to the court once . . . .goes to the basket for a rafter-rattling dunk!

Artis Gilmore is off the court and sporting a grin like the cat that just ate the canary.

He knew Kareem was going right through him and he didn't want to play that game.

Hahaha nice, thanks for sharing old-timer.

;)
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Tuned into the Clippers @ Cavs late in the 2nd.

The Clippers still can't hit a trey! 4-for-23 last night and 3-for-13 at the half.

Yesterday, LAC's inability to hit 3s (only something like 1-for-13 at the half against Indy), kept the Pacers in the game - for the first half, anyway. Clippers pretty much cruised in the second half. I think the closest the Pacers might have come was 6.

LAC up 6 at 10 min in the 3rd. They aren't putting away Cleveland, but they seem to be able to do whatever they need to do right now. They have 8 Ws in their last 10 games - as does Memphis. Miami has taken its last 10. Those are the best streaks in the NBA right now.

I have to think that having Billups back and playing significant minutes is a huge boost to the team. I am not going to go out on a limb and proclaim them the team to beat - not yet, anyway - but, with Chauncey back and CP3 healthy (or, healthier, at least), the Clippers appear to have gotten over that cold spell they had early last month.

I will say that if they get hot in the playoffs, I think that they will definitely cause some problems and may even surprise some people/teams.

That's a lot of effort to avoid a flight with your team.
Royce White will play in two D-League games for the Rio Valley Grande Vipers in Santa Cruz on Friday and Saturday night.

White is making a 34-hour drive in a RV to play in the game.

White is reportedly being called 'Winnebago' by his Vipers' teammates.

White has multiple drivers in order to make the trip as fast as possible.

Man, my Lakers played a really good 1st half tonight: 55 points, good %s, especially from outside the arc! Good half!

What's that?

Who is it they're playing?

The Thunder.

Oh.

What's that?

The Thunder scored 71 in the 1st half? You're kidding, right?

No?

Oh.

Oops.

To be expected... the Lakers defense is atrocious, after all.

Funny. I didn't notice any defense.

Clark is playing well in place of Gasol. Still, Gasol does have a few tools left - when he's healthy.

Decent comeback by LA - but, just too much to overcome. Despite holding OKC to only 51 points in the 2nd half - after having surrendered 71 in the 1st half - they still couldn't outscore them in the 2nd. Lakers only got 50 pts in the last 2 quarters.

Alas.

Kobe has some injury problems? Hopefuly it's something serious so I don't have to watch his ugly face for the rest of the season.

btw. Ray Allen is climbing on my most hated players list. What a loser. JJ did nothing there.

Too bad, Flash, it seems that little inflammation of or impact to his ulnar nerve didn't have much of an effect.

Kobe isn't done.

Suffer.

Kobe with the 118th 40-pt game of his career. Includes 12 boards and 7 assists. Decent game.

Meeks off the bench for 19 pts and 5-of-9 from outside.

Howard's block and recovery of the block at the end of the game.

Down 18 at the start of the 4th?

Guess the Lakers strategy is to just let the other team run itself into exhaustion. Allowed no points in the final 6 min - outscoring the Hornets 20-0 in that time.

More importantly, Houston lost. Lakers pick up a game.

CW, you know the phrase,"That was then. This is now!"?

The stompees became the stompers!

Oh well. I can't wait until the Lakers get crushed in the first round of the playoffs.

LOL!

You have to admit that, regardless of whom their opponent was tonight , that was a pretty impressive comeback.
