I don't have a source, but I'm sure it exists. Here's what a co-worker just emailed me:

VIKES EXTEND WILLIAMS

Weeks after it appeared that Vikings defensive tackle Pat Williams would play out the 2007 season and then take his chances on the open market, Williams has worked out a deal to stay in Minnesota.
Per Jay Glazer of FOX and Sean Jensen of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Williams agreed to a three-year extension that carries $22 million in new money, and $9.5 million in guarantees.
It's a reasonable deal for a Pro Bowl performer, especially at a time when more and more guys are getting $20 million or more in guaranteed money.
Then again, Williams is no spring chicken, and he's getting a nice payday while at the same time not having to get through 2007 unscathed in order to get paid.

This is honestly GREAT news!
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

I think it is great news also. It is fun to watch the Williams' kill the running game of all the other teams. The defense was one good thing that came out of last season.

Agreed. He's a key aspect of our defense. It was integral that we re-signed him. This bodes very well for both our rushing defense and our linebackers.

I am very excited about them this year also. I think that Henderson is going to have a phenominal season. The pass defense in general is going to do significantly better this year.

This is good news! Now all we need is a QB and some WRs

You gotta love Big Pat Williams. He is very underrated, IMO. He is a real good athlete for his size too. Plus, I saw him at the R Kelly concert @ the Orpheum a while back!

I like where we are going with Jackson. I think that he is going to be a great QB. The WR situation is a little spacy as far as talent is concerned, but hopefully Rashad Williamson, oops I mean Troy Williamson, will break out this year.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha....

I'm not entirely sold on T. Jackson. I think he's a good athlete and all, but he doesn't seem like he is a very good decision maker or much of a field general at all. I think it is going to be a very painful learning and maturation process.

I concur. However, he has done a lot of work this offseason to improve himself and become the leader on the field. There was even an interview where he stated that he had thrown a few barbecue at his house with quite a few of the players. He said that he is a great cook when it comes to barbecueing. But my point is that he is trying to get close with the other players in order to increase the amount of trust they have in him. In contrast to what you stated about his decision making abilities and being a field general, he showed a huge improvement over last year in the time that he played in preseason. I thought he did a great job in preseason. It's going to be a fun, learning year much like the Wolves.

Yeah, that may be true about his \"improvement\" this pre-season (although I didn't see too much to be honest.) How could he NOT improve over last season? He was a rookie and started two games. He was pretty much better by default this pre-season. I guess we'll see on Sunday. I just wish we had more QB options. Our backup plan is basically... nothing.

If Jackson is injured at some point this season, I understand the concern. However, Jackson will not be pulled this season. Childress has already stated that he is prepared for ups and downs and will be patient with Jackson.
As far as improvement, I think that Jackson showed a lot of improvement. And not just the improvement that you would expect from a guy that started a whole 2 games last season. I understand that he should have improved over last season but not all QB's do without being in more games. It was just two games. Like you said, we will see on Sunday. As long as he doesn't throw the ball to the wrong colored jerseys, he will do fine.

I hope he plays well. I want to like him... I really do. I just wish our offense wasn't so damned boring. Argh, Childress eats.

Yeah, we will see. If Williamson shows up and Jackson does well, this offense could be exciting again. It is all up to those two. The running game will be awesome either way. Be nice though to stretch the field with a passing game in order to give them a little more room to run.
